Kovalchuk proposal

I'm having a bet with a friend of mine here, so here's a question.

How many of you guys would trade Dubinsky, Del Zotto and Korpikoski for Kovalchuk, presuming he could be signed to a decent, long-term contract?

ohh. Thats a tough call. I think I would do it. Korp won't be that good.. Dubi will be good but we are talking Kovalchuk here. Basicly 2 1st rounder players and a 2-3rd for a superstar signed long term.

I think you definitely do that if you're the Rangers. Thrashers would probably want more

done done done. The people who won't do it are either the ones with major man-crushes or prefer potential talent to established talent.

Replace Del Zotto with Sangs and sure

I would miss Dubinsky though but were getting back a franchise player

I definitely would but they would probably want a 1st round pick and a decent player in the NHL right now on top of that.Your basically giving up a 2nd line center in Dubinsky who as much as I love, you have to give up in this deal, Korpikoski who will be a pretty good 2nd to 3rd line player and Del Zotto who's still an unproven prospect. For a superstar like Kovalchuk, you'd have to do this.

Couldn't be done.

Gomez, Drury, Rozsival, Redden. One of them, possibly two of them would have to be moved.

Kovalchuk is going to get the max. 10/year.

There is no way in hell the Thrashers would even think about doing this

If the cap was $65,000,000 I would do it...But unfortunately that's not the case. Too many guys already on the squad with big cap hits, to entertain another player with a big salary like Kovalchuk would totally have the teams hands tied.

For the players involved, I think anyone would do the deal...But for cap hit purposes this wouldn't happen...Now if Roszy was out of the equation, that is slightly different.

The only names that would make me think twice about a Kovalchuk deal are Lundqvist and Staal, other than that any combo of anyone I would move for that guy.

I'm inclined to agree.

Same goes for Bryan Little. That kid is going to be an elite player in the NHL.

Yea, he did. Chris Neil is a *******. He launched himself at a much smaller player with intent to injure.

In a heartbeat. That trade isn't anywhere near fair for Atlanta. Del Zotto and Korpikoski are largely unproven so it's almost like saying Dubinsky and some draft picks for one of the most dynamic scorers in the game? You'd have to add Staal and a 1st to make that fair for the Thrashers.

Dubi, DZ and Korps for Kovalchuk? That's too easy.
