I can't believe that not all the canadiens fans are complete homers.

Mason is just as talented as Price. You can see that from watching a few games. Two great young goalies.

Columbus fans are LUCKY to be able to watch this kids career unfold. He is going to be a GREAT goalie as long as he stays healthy.

Mason is already better than Price and that's never going to change

He's going to challenge for the VEZINA this year, forget the calder.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Last year the thread probably read, "Pascal Leclaire the Real Deal?".

Well, most of you.

Well, even Marty only played 15 games at some point...

Look people, not all Columbus hockey fans were born and raised in a Columbus basement; Mason is the real deal based on what we have seen so far. All of the things a goalie must do he does and he has the size as well. I've rarely seen a rookie goalie play the puck better than Turco but he does.

He's going to be a good one folks, but only time can prove me correct.

You say that like Pascal Leclaire isn't the real deal

Don't forget -- Pazzy lost the job to injury -- INJURY

If he ever gets healthy, he'll be a great NHL goaltender

Then, you could have Mason and Mason as your two goalies.

I get chills just thinking about how awesome that would be.

Wasn't there another Mason on Nashville who was bald? I thought he was an old vet? Confused?

He's on St. Louis now. He didn't fare so well when he played us last weekend.

Oh thanks. Well it looks like Lundqvist, Luongo, Brodeur, Price, and Nabokov have some real competition now It is always nice to see a new goalie emerge, especially with a team like CLB. They are heading in the right path now with Filatov developing in the minors. Sooner or later, Leclaire is expendable and they can trade him for a top-six center to play with Nash. And even if they don't get a top-six center, Brassard is the real deal. I like Columbus now.

Mason's a dang good goalie - was a shame he got hurt in Junior last year or he'd have a Mem cup championship to go with his OHL championship (traded from the Knights to the Rangers midseason).

Give him a season on a decent team in the AHL so he can pick up a Calder and you'd essentially have everything you could compare him against with to Price.

Without looking it up,I believe he's even had similar World Jr results

Yeah but it'd be confusing as hell for people following the game, when they hear "Mason's getting the start in goal tonight".

THe guy has won the MVP for Canada....I am not surprised with his success. Though, I'm a little shocked [maybe not the best word] on the media coverage this guy gets. He's been stellar for the Jackets, and I certainly wish him good luck.

That's the thing, IMO. Rather than argue about who is better, let's talk about how amazing it is to get to watch two young goalies making such a huge impact in the NHL at the same time.

Hard to imagine that Mason had played just three professional games, prior to this season.
