i didn't see the game but i'm such a nerd i saw the shot count and came straight here. hopefully some people who saw the game keep the accounts coming, it would be nice to have stuff to read between sardonic he's obviously the next brodeur comments.
There you go. I'm just correcting another poster. Don't get your feathers roughed up.
I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'll say this and leave it alone. In no way did I intend to slight Price. I was just responding to the Op's question. "Is Mason the real deal?" I believe that he is just as talented as Carey Price (who I also think is the real deal.) I wasn't trying to spark a feud between the fans of either player.
Its like a few years back when people were asking about Malkin, and Russian posters would say that he's as talented as Ovechkin. It wasn't an affront to Ovechkin, but an affirmation of the immense talent Evgeni possessed. And like the Russian posters were with Malkin, I am thoroughly convinced that Mason is going to be a HUGE star in the league. He has size, agility, composure, he follows the puck well, and he battles extremely hard.
I've seen him a lot this year and sometimes had a feeling that he tends to fall asleep for a moment. Like when Iginla scored the only Calgary's goal I thought that he left a half of the net wide open. The only goal he gave up to Vancouver or a couple Canadiens goals weren't unstoppable either. The rest of the time he was almost perfect. The game before tonight in Chicago he made incredible save on Kane's breakraway with the pad. My thoughts were "the guy got quick AND long legs".
I guess his blackouts happens only when he plays against Canadian teams cause both times he faced the Russian superstars he posted shotouts in the Capitals and Thrashers games
