So was Price.

Price also had a .961 SV%, which is better than Steve Mason's.

The kid is really beginning to be underrated, especially with Montreal's completely inept defensive play.

There you go. I'm just correcting another poster. Don't get your feathers roughed up.

I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'll say this and leave it alone. In no way did I intend to slight Price. I was just responding to the Op's question. "Is Mason the real deal?" I believe that he is just as talented as Carey Price (who I also think is the real deal.) I wasn't trying to spark a feud between the fans of either player.

Its like a few years back when people were asking about Malkin, and Russian posters would say that he's as talented as Ovechkin. It wasn't an affront to Ovechkin, but an affirmation of the immense talent Evgeni possessed. And like the Russian posters were with Malkin, I am thoroughly convinced that Mason is going to be a HUGE star in the league. He has size, agility, composure, he follows the puck well, and he battles extremely hard.

That's it. Anyway, more Mason talk!

I've seen him a lot this year and sometimes had a feeling that he tends to fall asleep for a moment. Like when Iginla scored the only Calgary's goal I thought that he left a half of the net wide open. The only goal he gave up to Vancouver or a couple Canadiens goals weren't unstoppable either. The rest of the time he was almost perfect. The game before tonight in Chicago he made incredible save on Kane's breakraway with the pad. My thoughts were "the guy got quick AND long legs".
I guess his blackouts happens only when he plays against Canadian teams cause both times he faced the Russian superstars he posted shotouts in the Capitals and Thrashers games

I saw the second period, and he was phenominal. If he can play like that every game he is going to be one of the top 3 goaltenders in the league.

well, I guess I was the first period.

Mason was great when he needed to be. A lot of shots from the outside and his defense kept the forwards busy while some rebounds were floating around.

I was OT.

You can blame me for the turnover that led to the 2 on 1

Mike Peca thinks so.

"He's the real deal," center Michael Peca said.

Bitter?

Why would I be bitter

I like Columbus and how they play,I was just being honest.

I don't believe they have what it takes to make the playoffs in the West

You like how they play?

I hate it.

So damned inconsistent.

We dump and chase the ENTIRE game...ugh. I wonder how we ever get any offense.

How can you not love players like Nash,Brassard,Voracek playing...

I'm not sure you would like it if they would play a run and gun style.

A guy on your team that I'm really keeping on eye on is Kris Russell.

I watched him at the WJ and I was amazed by him.Such a good offensive defenceman. If only he could work on the defensive side he would become a beast
