Hopefully he develops like Pronger did. Pronger had a few 20-30 point seasons before he became what he is today.

Don't think he'll ever be putting up 50 points a season, but 40 is not unrealistic. He'll probably put up 20 points this season without even sniffing the PP.

That said, Renney is an idiot. I guarantee you we wouldn't have even half the short handed goals against if Staal was on the point instead of Rozsival, etc...

Put Staal out there with Redden or Mara already Renney. Stop hoping that the problems will just magically evaporate

We all knew Staal was our #1 since last season. Little did we know Girardi would be playing like our #2 though.

Girardi, Mara and Staal = The three beasts. Staal has been very solid this season.

Has been solid all year. Never have to worry when he is on the ice.

Like to see him get more PP time and see what O he has in his on his stick.... He will never be a Brian Leetch or Zubov (in their own class, Leetch especially IMO) but he will be very good for a very long time.

This might sound ridiculous, but while I think Staal definitely has more offense than he's shown thus far, I also think we won't see it until he decides to use a shorter stick. His stick is really long (cue a dumb Shadowtron gay reference), approaching Tom Potian levels, and this obviously helps him with his reach for stick-checking. But if you guys want to see end to end rushes and nifty moves, you'll be disappointed unless Marc decides to use some lumber that's not so optimized for defense.

I liked how Brown tried to hit Staalsy every time he got, but he couldn't hit big Marc, rather he was the one taking the punishment.

Mr. Crosby, meet Mr. Staal.

Let me add to this thread, how I love when everytime someone tries to hit Staal, and they end up falling on the ice, and Staal just stares them down like, "are you kidding me." It gets me goin

hed be #4, imho Staal, Vally and Labarbera playing like ass were more important to our win, particularly labarbera and that first goal.
