Honestly if this is how the entire game is going to go I'm going to turn it off soon.

This ****ing horse **** with these Hurricanes is ridiculous. How do they constantly get this blatant officiating in their favor. It makes me sick. It's like the Canes' ice girls perform "special duties" for the refs before the game!

Carolina is outworking the Cats.

Not to mention, they're doing a much better job of passing, making Florida chase the puck all over the ice.

That was a phenomenal defensive play. Great work by Ballard/Mclean, he read that play very well.

I just voted for the Panthers to win...after seeing the Canes are dominating the first and scored.

Sorry I'm in late on this one - we didn't have much in the way of internet access at work today. We got that new virus that's going around on our main server.

Looks like they're scared to play, thinking they'll get called for more crap if they do.

rarely this team has bounced back in a game after a bad 1st period

so it doesn't look good for the rest of the game

I didn't catch the first period but I saw the ice time clock and it bothers me that Frolik has played 3:25 relative to Horton playing 5:10 as an example. When they've been out of the lineup forever and Frolik has been playing great, why is Horton playing more than Frolik? I think when you've been putting up points like he has lately that you should be playing as much as any of the other forwards or more.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Hopefully, Pete will shake that mentality during the intermission.

Right from the start we started playing Carolina's game, right from the first face-off it seemed and we bit. Ice time didn't really matter that period considering they just spent it all chasing Carolina around, werent any good chances at all, but I see what you mean.

the call on mccabe looked to be a joke. cullen appeared to have been hit with tranquilizer dart there. however, real time, it looked like a necessary penalty thanks to that bounce off the end boards.

they are winning some battles but more noticeably, they are executing beautifully in transition. it's textbook puck support. notice how effortlessly they're leaving their zone?

the penalty on jay was a result of that funky bounce in the neutral zone and jay's whiff. the goal i put on dvo; we had their guy pinned on the half board and instead of attacking a helpless puck carrier, dvo stood still, trying to prevent the pass to the point. the puck carrier took advantage going diagonally to the opposite point and it was all over after that.

all in all, not a surprising period. lots of new combinations, lots of chaos. not much flow. i think welch looked good out there; the most solid and confident few shifts i've seen out of him in a while.

i think we'll see a better 2nd. i expect more chips and dumps along with an attempt to hammer their D. we had no forecheck in the first. we had a few good chances from transition but no real, consistent execution leading to possession.

I hope so too. But theres not much you can do, when you come within 5 feet of them and they flop all over the ice.

I'm embarrassed for them.

I saw on the PP a couple of the Canes fell out of nowhere. Lucky we weren't near them or we would've been down by two (though I'm sure the refs still reached for their whistles out of reflex).

because horton is a bonafide 30 goal scorer in this league???

the weiss/booth/horton line got only a couple of shifts the first half of that period. we had 3 penalties spread over the period which messed with flow in terms of changes but, really, weiss's line has looked better than frolik's and at this point, PDB may be wary of making wholesale line changes at this point.

McLean gets hit in similar fashion of McCabe's penalty but no call ,wtf!

-McLean's best game of the year, only start of 2nd period, that's saying something, I like when Campbell fights with his fighter stance, lol . Should get the team going
