Funny that our best chance has come with Frolik on the ice.

Ha, did you guys see the pointy-nosed ref come in and defend Bayda from Welch, like a father would a son? Good stuff right there.

Our power play looks awful.

It's funny that you mock the accusations during a display like tonight.

Very funny.

Edit: Nice punch there by the captain.

Much better effort this period so far, but still a bit too sloppy.

They need to tighten it up, make crisper passes and get the Canes to chase the puck for a change.

We were battling the puck as much as we were the Canes that period. Nothing's going our way tonight, we're going to have to get a garbage goal.

Booth is flying out there.

Geez, McLean gets rubbed out of every battle along the boards every time. I can't believe he gets the call over Tarnasky.

BTW, I'm not capping on his work ethic... which is phenomenal. It's just that he isn't getting things done.

Great to see Frolik playing with Weiss again. I was growing tired of the so-called Sunrise Express.

We just have to win the 3rd period 2-0, that's all.

Agreed. He's not executing enough to warrent his minutes. I don't understand what PDB sees in him.

tough to get a garbage goal when you can't get the puck to the net. we're just not executing as well as they are. can't cleanly and consistently get the puck up the ice and generate any speed, which means it's very difficult to get the forecheck going.

anyhow, we had a better period and probably should've had at least 1. what happened with campbell??? bad ice? idk. didn't see a good replay.

yeah, clearly PDB felt he had to mix it up between the 1st and 2nd and i thought the changes helped. anyone notice that horton went most of the 2nd without a shift? he really hasn't been able to get make any kind of an impact.

*sigh* not the PDB feature AGAIN! has every network bought the rights to this thing?

They looked lead-legged in the 1st. Yeah, we're putting 4 new bodies into the lineup, but I didn't expect that to change the effort level which was atrocious for the 1st 20. Better in the 2nd. Not great, but better. They are fighting the puck a bit (that thing looks like a superball out there most likely because the puck isn't completely frozen).

please, he's working hard. that's what PDB sees. he's not getting bounces, he's not playing with the right guys... don't know what it is but he's doing pretty much all you can ask of him and that's why he's playing. even the carolina guys have said as much.

the effort wasn't atrocious. you have to be able to differentiate between effort and execution.

Which is exactly why Stewart shouldn't be in the NHL. He can't execute, but has all the effort in the world. He should've been benched instead of Tarnasky in my opinion.

I think the changes helped as well. The Booth-Weiss-Horton combination seems a bit of a waste, if we're trying to spread the scoring around, since Booth can make things happen on his own; he doesn't need Weiss to generate chances for him. So, if we want three scoring lines, have the following staples: Weiss and Frolik on the first Dvorak-Campbell-Peltonen on the second; and Horton with a playmaker (either Kreps, or Stillman, or both) on the third.

And thus I continue to advance my Horton-for-Havlat suggestion.

Addendum: Ballard is a trooper. Nice block.
