Ridiculously early look at the Trade Deadline

Are we going to be buyers or sellers?

Given that I normally play the optimism card and will therefore assume we'll at least be in the hunt at the deadline without having dealt Bo, I have a feeling we'll be buyers this time. That said, I wanted to get an idea of who everyone thinks would be a decent fit here (realistically, not a pipe dream).

For example, I figure it might take just a pick to pry one of Weight or Comrie out of New York. Both are in the last year of their contracts so we wouldn't have to worry too much about salary and knowing we are dangerously thin at center, I'd like to add Weight's experience to this team for a playoff run.

This thread reminds me of the time I walked into a local store this August and saw that they had Christmas trees up.

This team does feel different this year though. Maybe Christmas will come in April this year ..

See where we are in about a month. If we need help at center, I'd do Weight for our 2nd if they'd move him early. If we're in good shape at the deadline, then I just wouldn't do anything.

If we are in contention come then, I can see him doing a deal for Vermette. We still need help down the middle, healthy or not, and if Vermette keeps playing the way he is, we can get him at a Walmart price. Dont mortgage the future the way Atlanta did just to get into the playoffs.

Totally agree pb1300 in terms of "don't mortgage the future." However, to be honest I've never been sold on Vermette. But you're right, his value has never been lower and he probably could be had relatively cheaply.

I've always liked Vermette. He works hard and can give you 20 goals per season

I don't know why he's having such a hard time this season, but at a low price, I'd take the "risk" with him. He could bounce back

Because pretty much all the Sens are having a tough time this season. I'm sure they will all bounce back and start playing like they know they can.
