Certainly hurts our chances of winning the division.

Thankfully we've played the Canucks 4 of 6 times already this season.

good acquisition for the canucks. however, robyn regehr will definitely give him a WARM welcome when he plays the flames.

Good for the Canucks and Sundin. I can not believe Gillis let Sundin make a fool out of him for 6 months though.... pretty low IMO.

I would be a little annoyed if I was Gillis.

What was wrong with this deal on July 1st?? Makes you know that you were at least his second choice, not such a classy move on Sundin's part...but w/e.

This changes that Vancouver team quite a bit and if Luongo comes back playing well they will most certainly have a great shot at the division.

I have a feeling Calgary and Vancouver might be 1st round opponents this year, and you know what happens to the winner of that series...

The joy-gasm in this city right now makes me ill....

Hahahaha well it will change the team sure but give them some time and we will see if it is hype or reality. Either way Van and Cgy are the teams looking the best in the NW so far.

We just need to keep doing our thing and not worry about Sundin. Remember, he hasn't played NHL hockey for quite a while now.

This. Sundin could do great or poorly. We play the canucks only twice more this year. That means to win the division we have to keep winning games. Our record isn't exactly bad at this point, and we're getting scoring from everyone. Time will tell and all that jazz

AMEN! Personally I think Sundin is a great player but is not as red hot as the media circus says. Either way the Flames should win the NW if they play like they have.

Meh, the Flames just have to focus on winning their games and handling their business, nevermind Sundin.

Although I was hoping he'd sign with the Rangers, as this move makes the Canucks a better team. The NW Division just got more interesting, that's for sure.

It's not a big deal, it's not like Sundin has ever carried a team far in the playoffs and as long as the Sedins are their primary source of offense I'm not too worried at all... especially come playoff time

Not likely, Sundin is 6 foot 5 and 230 lbs. He's no Hemsky.

Sedin Sedin Demitra /raymond

Wellwood Sundin Bernier /Raymond

Hansen Kesler Burrows /raymond

Pyatt Johnson Hordichuck

I likey.

Two Scoring lines

A shutdown third line that has chipped in 19 goals this year.

And a 4th line with toughness.

BEAUTIIFULLL

Last three playoff series between the two clubs ended in overtime of game 7 didn't they?

Good for the Canucks bad news for everyone else in the West. No doubt Sundin is a great player and he will probably make that team better. Canucks are a dangerous team once they get Luongo back and healthy.

Agree with the others though the flames just have to continue playing their game and not worry about this. I'm definetly not ready to hand the division over to the Canucks.

What's with Vancouver fans and reposting their line combinations over and over? No one is going to forget the players on your roster, its ok.

Sorry, but why would that surprise you? Sundin has been incredibly consistent at around 1 PPG his entire career, including the last several years. Now, he'll have better linemates than he's had in ages on a team that's top 10 in scoring. I'd be surprised if he wasn't at least 1 PPG.

Bottom Line with Sundin: Langkow numbers for Ovechkin money..... Makes no sense but if Gillis needs that to look at himself in the mirror, whatever works!

Totally Barney! And the two the Flames won 1989 and 2004... we all know the Flames ended up in the finals. Bring it on!

I don't think Sundin will stay healthy. And the groin is the worst injury for a goalie to recover from in season. So I think Luongo might not be 100% for the rest of the year.

I do think we need to grab another mobile defenseman though. I think our forward group is fine.

Hes in his late 30s and he hasnt played hockey in several months. Plus he wont be playing with Vancouvers top line, so unless he is paired with Demitra i dont see him being the God Like Saviour that the Media has seemed to portray him as in the last 8 months or so. He is still a good hockey player but not good enough to warrant the attention he has received. He will certainly improve the canucks but i just dont expect him to light it up.

Actually,

Langkow's PPG is 0.58
Sundin's PPG is 1.01
ratio of 0.5742

Langkow's salary this year is $5M
Sundin's salary this year is $9M
ratio of 0.5555

Looks like Gillis got it pretty bang-on.
