Sure if you want to count stads from Quebec and go far but since the lock out:
Langkow GP G A P
2005-2006 82 25 34 59
2006-2007 81 33 44 77
2007-2008 80 30 35 65
243 88 113 201
Sundin GP G A P
2005-2006 70 31 47 78
2006-2007 75 27 49 76
2007-2008 74 32 46 78
219 90 142 232
Numbers are not that far off but not a $5 vs $10 million salary difference, Sutter got a steal in Langkow's contract
Sundin has actually increased his PPG since the lockout. His numbers are only 0.05 PPG off of Iginla's in that time. Now, Langkow has been playing with Iginla during that time. How do you think Sundin's totals would look if he had a winger like Iggy to play with?
Sundin is not comparable to Langkow. You should stop.

I am not saying he is.... Sundin is a better play maker but nowhere near Ovechkin numbers and since the lock out has scored a few more goals than LAngkow. Gillis is a total idiot to offer 10 mil simple
Sundin isn't signing for $10 million because his deal is prorated up to this point in the season. His agent has also confirmed that he'll be leaving money on the table to leave the Canucks with cap room to make further additions.

Because that cap money was going to be spent somewhere else?
Now Sundin "was" a good player last year, we all agree. Will he be a good player this year. A PPG player? Personally I don't think he comes remotely close. Not in the West. Not after taking a half year off.

I totally agree. I for one am curious to see how he can play the western conference game. He can be fragile and this conference is different from the east... Will see in April who made it and in what seed come playoff time

After this signing I think it is safe to say Calgary and Van are very close to being on par now. Should be a fun battle for the division.

I think it's pretty obvious that Vancouver was already better. The Flames only caught them after Luongo being out for almost a month. With Luongo back and Sundin in the fold, it puts Vancouver well above the Flames.

Fragile? He has missed fewer than 3 games/season for his career.
I'm sorry, but you have posted a few things in this thread that are just plain wrong.

Vancouver was well below the Flames. The Flames started out horribly but have looked like a much more dominant team lately. They destroyed the Canucks in the last double header and have looked much much much better than the Canucks have looked. Sundin puts the Canucks on par if Luongo returns soon.

It really all depends on.
1. If the offense can still be over archivers and be as productive.
2. Sundin can shake of the rust early.
3. Luongo can bounce back quickly from a rather long groin injury
4. The Blueline can stay healthy (which I doubt)
Calgary on the other hand needs.
1. A dominant Iginla
2. A solid kipper
3. defense to continue it solid play.
4. Stay healthy and play disiplined.
Over all I think Calgary will edge out Vancouver for top spot in the NW but it's going to be real close.

That's special that you feel that way. This is your opinion... mine is different... as would be expectecd coming from the other teams perspective.
Bottom line both teams are tied in points and that shows that they are equal. With or without Sundin these teams are even. Go ahead factor in your Bad start and i'll factor in the luongo injury and the fact we ddin't have sundin yet... and we can go in an endless circle.
We will end up at the same point... the standings say we are equal... and this will continue until one team overtakes the other (and eventually who ends up making it further in the playoffs).
When will nuck and flame fans figure this out? Personal opinions are great but are pretty meaningless. You guys have a great looking team on paper... as do we.. let's be happy we are not the leafs or the isles and actually have a chance this year.
Hopefully one of our teams can do some damage because as we know... how a team looks on paper and our perception of a team... means nothing if they can't get it done on the ice.
This is embarrassing. If Sundin had signed with the Flames all of the Flames fans saying Sundin is a bad signing would be singing his praise and praising Sutter for finally getting Iggy a legit #1 center.
Sundin is an elite player and will have no trouble proving that on the ice. Fantastic addition to the Canucks which makes them a very dangerous team when Lalongo and O'Brien returns to health.

To think otherwise is pure nonsense.
...yyyeah your right.
It's a great signing and I do not see anyone say otherwise. Were just argueing semantics is all no need to get all worked up over it.

if the Flames signed Sundin for $9 million I would be saying its a bad signing... this gives him what the 2nd highest cap hit in the NHL? it is a BAD contract given to a greedy player
