didnt read the thread.
Im sure its been mentioned, awesome effort tonight from everyone. Was a very fun game to watch.
i just wanna make sure to give props to the PP.
2 goals and many many opportunitys.
Constantly put pressure on them and it was a great big step in the right direction.
I wish we keep Halak for as long as possible before he realizes he can be a great #1 somewhere else. Whoever is doing the magic bliss thing in his head please don't stop.

#1??
He has not shown at all he can be a #1 goalie. His rebound control is beyond brutal.
Its actually very sad for an NHL goalie.
I saw the last half of the game. I dunno if the habs took their foot off the gas pedal as it was already 4-1, but I didnt really like what I saw. I'll take the two points but it didnt feel like a slump buster type of game.
About Halak, he's a pretty technically sound goalie. I dont understand the MA Fluery comparison. The thing is that he doesn't have that same presence or aura in net that Carey Price has. I think this has more to do with the size disparity between the two goalies than anything else.
Halak has a Joceyln Thiabult frame while Price has a Roberto Luongo frame.
I thought u were being sarcastic Jaydee96, how has he been bad for us so far?
his rebound control is incredibly bad.
he has a record of 2-3-0, alright the team hasnt been great, but, not a good record.
He's shaky very often. How many times tonight did he scare the crap out of you?
always falling, empty nets, dangerous rebounds, bouncing pucks in front of him. I cant handle him.
I have critized Latendresse a lot lately but i admit I do like his last two games because he did exactly what i expected him to do. Playing physical, like really, finish all your bodychecks every times you get the chance to and put your fat*** in front of the net to block the goalie's view and scored the garbages goals on rebound and he did that perfectly in tonights game.
He is actually moving his legs, involved in the play and wants the puck, thats the difference.. He looks more confident with the puck now and his bodychecks are well synchronized.. before he couldnt arrive on time where the puck was and his bodychecks werent affecting the play.. He was a passenger and now he looks more and more like a contributor, I hope he keeps playing like this, thats the way the success will come..
After the lost against the Canes I said we should stop focussing on the Bruins and the first place in the league, just get better as a team coming back to the details and hard work, that the most important was to see our kids improve game after game.. Well tonight, both Lats and Sergei made me happy with their play, its promising and it will hopefully create intern competition between players, what Ive been looking since the start of the season! The way DAgo plays, there is no way he is sent down, so it will be exciting.. A pretty average season so far but its better it happens now than late in the season.. Things should fall in place soon playing more consistent hockey..

Well my personal opinion on Halak hasn't been a mini hasek for nothing. He scares me yet inspires great confidence.

At least Hasek could control his rebounds somewhat.
Halak continuosly gives juicy gift wraps rebounds in the slot and cannot cover a puck that is down in front of him. Maybe its his mask that prevents him from seeing the ice at his feet but he never has control of pucks that are close to him.
I think the Carolina game is gonna be the turning point.
All those penalties became a wake-up call.
Now the Habs will bring their A Game & start to dominate !
A few things that explain our slow start :
- The new defensive system has changed the flow of our attack. We are not scoring as many goals but we are 4th in the conference for goals against - behind Boston, Jersey, Ottawa. This is a great improvement defensively.
- The constant line juggling due to injuries & Carbo panic after a loss.
Hopefully the lines will stay more or less intact for a while so chemistry can build-up.
BUt with AKost injured, maybe not.
I was on the way home from work and i was listening to CKAC, when the glass broke, Dany Dube was talking about a guy on the reds wearing a Latendresse tshirt putting up quite a show. Never thought i could see the video of that guy.

I think you're far past what I call overreacting.
Halak is not even close to be as bad as you make him sound.
Shaky, no control, bad positioning, small, poor stickhandling, difficulty freezing the puck, etc..
Doesn't sound like a goalie that would make it to the NHL to me..
Halak can be a #1, eventually. He still needs some work, but he's definitely good. I think we're lucky to have such a talented back up. The more he'll play the better he'll be I'm convinced. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't even had the chance to hope for an 8th place PO entry. Carbo screwed up by giving this Game to Huet.
Price has his flaws as well, most noticeably he seems to collapse mentality after he lets in a bad goal.
Do I prefer Price??...yea I do, for many reasons. But I'm ok with Halak as well, I don't think he's that bad at all.
Halak tracks the puck like no other and catches it with the toe of his pads. The guy has elite skill no doubt, I think he will challenge Price a some point.
I would honestly call the Oilers and try to make a deal...still even if they like him, they probably don't love him that much...
I'd take ****ing Stortini for him. I'd throw in a 7th just to get him off the books for 3 years.
There is NO WAY he is worth more or even the same as Kostopoulos.

I do not feel comftorble with him AT ALL!!!!!
He's not on Price's level as far as making saves look incredibly easy.
But this is the way Halak has always played. He may go about doing his job very awkwardly, but there have been other great goalies in the same boat. I think he really needs to work on his rebound control because it is bad.. but it's what has always worked for him.
You talk about his record being 2-3 since Price went down. Fine, that's true, but you really can't blame him. He's posting around a 2.25 GAA and a .925 SV% (11 goals on 139 shots) in that time.
Goaltending has been and will continue to be the least of our worries.

And the assist on the 5th Goal. On a PP at that!
- Kovalev had a moment with Hartnell, it looked like they were going to fight. Now that would of been good to see. I am not going to asy Kovi is a fighter but he is in stupid shape and I bet he could have a decent scrape! Kov is playing well...
- The CH tends to play well against GOOD teams... I only hope that they can keep the momentum against Buff and the Caines! We tend to do poorly against those teams (and tampa for what ever reason). If we can get the next two we are back baby!

I think they will trade him. He could compete for a starters position and we could get something decent for him. Denis is a good backup with Experience. I am pretty sure that Bob brought him in in order to move Halak...

some people just don't get it, it's more then what he does on the ice, i thought it was fairly noticable how the Flyers were trying to match our fast pass game rather then throwing cheapshots left and right, too bad A.Kost got caught off guard, but really, the Laraque effect is there, just stop looking for the immediate play. He's a goon, not a defensive specialist.
so gainey gets the toughest guy in the league and people still whine?
get it through your skull that the players owe you nothing, and that YOU pay their salaries
if you don't like how they're paid, stop buying tickets
hmmmm .. a miss spelling .. andrei kostitsyn is a left winger for montreal , i would hope you would have the know how to notice a miss spell. I love how people jump on miss spellings

From the comments here, it seems like an unpopular opinion, but I'm with you on this one.
Halak has not looked good. He constantly fumbles the puck and leaves bad rebounds. And he's having a hard time controlling the puck outside the crease. That shot from Carter was a prime example of his shaky netminding.
Sure his stats look good and he has made some nice saves, but he has been extremely lucky (not à la Hasek).
With that said, I think he definitely has the potential to be a great goalie and I think he will be. He has a lot of things going for him and I believe it's just a confidence thing. This shakiness has only bee going on for the past few games.

is not a miss spell....a lot of people including Benoit Brunet call him Andre when his name is ANDREI
