AGREED! He had 8 or 9 shootout goals last season with Dallas and has had a 48pt. season with them in 06/07. Grab him Howie! Tampa has lost its damn mind!
True, but he has yet to get close to a goal in a shootout this year. Though he is a drastic improvement at center from most of what the Jackets have. He would be a solid center for just about every team (including Tampa).
Wow, that's shocking. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Great faceoff guy, deadly in the shootout. Jump on it, Scott.
Is he really a great faceoff guy? I thought he mostly played the wing. He doesn't seem like that great of player but he can't be worse than Mike York. Also he's younger (only 25) and maybe a new change of scenery will reverse what the change of scenery to Tampa seemed to do?
Center Derick Brassard suffered a dislocated right shoulder in Thursday's 6-5 shootout loss in Dallas, The Dispatch has confirmed.
Brassard has already had X-rays. He'll return with the Blue Jackets after Saturday's game in Phoenix and will have an MRI on Sunday.
A dislocation is worse than a separation. It's possible Brassard could need surgery. If so, he could miss months rather than weeks. Depending on the severity of the injury, a dislocated shoulder can be treated with rehab (weeks) or surgery (months).
This is not good for Brass. He already had both shoulders operated on prior to being drafted. He broke his jaw running into a teammate last year. I love the kid, but he's a few injuries away from being Glassard. Ok, that was a ****** pun, but the point being he needs to hit the weights big time now.
Lady Luck seems a lot less interested in the Jackets than Murphy.
Still, Brassard will learn from this. I love his spirit but he's too important to this team to be a fighter. This was a rookie mistake, and one he won't soon forget.
Grabbing Jokinen might work out for us in the short term, but I don't see how any desperation moves can help us in the long run. The truth is we have to build the team the hard way, and frankly I think we're making progress even if it often doesn't look so clear.
And frankly, after last night $@$%! the NHL review committee.

That is very bad news. Shoulders are very tricky thing and one thing is for sure, once you dislocate your shoulder it never regains it's full form. If he has to go through another surgery... It looks very bad for him...
Jussi Jokinen is the name of the moment, but come on. This team needs far more than a third liner from Tampa. Picking him up off waivers just means that we then can't get a real center. Why bother? Is he better than York, maybe. But we need a lot more help than Jokinen. Now (before midnight) is the time to make a move with either Ottawa or NY to get Spezza, Vermette, or Dubinsky.
Jokinen would end up being a band aid that would prevent us from getting real help.
