Jussi Jokinen

i say pick him up. seeing how we are well not the best at the shootout. (8-16) all time we could use just a shootout specialist i think, and i would rather have him than a guy like roy. i do not care, you can play him 5 minutes a game like roy gets, and we have guys who can fight. i do not think he would hurt on our 15th ranked powerplay, which is scoring at a %18.7 success rate. i think give him a shot, and if he does not work, move him. thoughts??????

We do not pick up a guy to slightly improve our chances in the shootout. We have had only 1 this year, and there are no shootouts in the playoffs.

Lets not discourage the guys in the system by looking to the outside. We have good enough forward depth.

I say make a bid for him, but in all likelyhood 10 or more teams probably have an interest, soo he probably won't come here regardless....but I'd take a stab at it...he's affordable and he'd give some really sound depth to our Top 9 forwards....

Awesome idea!!! He scored 55 points as a 23 year old so he's exactly what we need!!!

Lombardi + Boyd + pick for Jokinen + Malik?

Jokinen was placed on waivers today by the Lightning. No need to trade for him. Also, giving up Lombardi, Boyd, and a pick for Jokinen and Malik (who just signed with TB) would be a vast overpayment.

pass... going by the overall shootout recod since they were introduced is a completely unfair way of juding a teams shootout ability... last season the Flames were .500 in shootouts and this year 0-1... I don't see the need to pick him up

i think we need a top 6 centreman moreso, but how is he going to hurt us? He's a much better asset than roy, who just fights mainly, and we have guys who can fight, but everyone can use scorers.

TB really needs all the dmen they can get, so getting malik off them would probably require sending a d man back in some sort of package.

you are aware Tampa's struggles this yer are their anemic offense not their defense or goaltending right? they won't do this tho because they aren't going to want to screw with the one part of their team that is doing well

I doubt the Flames will even get the option to pick him up, I'd expect that someone within the bottom five would be willing to take him, considering he was popular in Dallas before, St.Louis has alot of injured forwards and he would likely crack the top 6 in Atlanta.

Even if he were still available by the time the Flames had the option, I don't think he necessarily does anything well enough to be an outstanding player and I don't know who's roster spot he would take. If picking up the 'shootout specialist' meant waving Prust, I'd be entirely against it.

Also, keep in mind reserving a roster spot for a person who's specialized in scoring during the shootout seems pointless. Thats a roster spot dedicated to someone who could contribute to earning an additional point in a regular season game.

Not a fan of Jokinen myself. Think we are fine as far as our forwards go. Where would he fit in? We already have Boyd playing on the 4th line when he should be in the top 9. Glencross is not in the lineup and he needs to go somehere. Just don't see a fit for Jokinen.

apparently he's already cleared waivers. surprised nobody picked him up, but that is why are are in the armchairs and they are the GMs (although a monkey could do a better job than Waddell)

We have no use for him as:

1. We only employ Euro's in our net.
2. We hardly ever have a game go to shootouts
3. We have better players already competing for ice time
4. We need a dman if anything.

meh.... no does not seem to be what we need... another (cliche: puck moving) defenseman would be ideal...
