I like Vermette, but I don't see him bringing back anything of value by himself right now. His value is too low at the moment, so its best to just hang tight for now.

Vermette's point totals this season have been terrible. Don't know why the oilers trade grebeshkov for vermette straight up. Sens would have to add something.

Right now Greb's trade value > Vermette's. Top 4 minute puck moving d-men are at a premium right now. So this trade doesn't work

But, I still think our teams make good trading partners, as you can spare a checking C with FO skills and a defensive d, while we can spare some skilled top 6 offense and a puck moving D, filling both our teams needs

I would do something based around Cole for Vermette and Grebs + Nilsson for Volchenkov or Grebs + Pouliot/Schremp for Phillips though. I don't know about the Sens side, but that seems pretty close to fair, maybe a pick or something to even it out a bit

If Jussi Jokinen can clear waivers making a million less than Vermette with double the points it makes one wonder what kind of value Vermette would have at this point.

Vermette would be cool, but how do we reshuffle our forward deck with him in?

I don't think any of our forwards have two way contracts, and we have JDD occupying a roster spot.

Obviously Brodziak or Pouliet would have to be dealt or waived to make room for him. But Vermette isn't exactly the physical force we need in a shutdown role..

Vermette's definitely struggling and holds less value than at the beginning of the year, but he brings far more to the table than Jokinen. He's outstanding defensively and has shown the ability to rack up points when playing with smart offensive players (Stillman). He's also top-10 in faceoff ability.

I'll admit that Vermette for Grebs would very much be in Ottawa's favour right now, but Vermette wouldn't clear waivers like Jokinen.

Everyone was sure Jokinen would get claimed off waivers as well. That seems to be happening alot with certain players. People are sure they'd get claimed. Same thing happened with Gratton too.

Jokinen is a year younger, has better offensive numbers in his career, is a million cheaper. He's a decent player defensively as well, plays the 2nd most of any Tampa forward on the PK.

Really the only thing Vermette has over him at this point is his faceoff ability. Is that worth the extra million to a team? Maybe, but at this point who knows.

the thing about Jokenin is that he hasnt put up 50 pts since his rookie season some time ago.

Vermette is on the first PK unit here, and our PK is one of the best in the league, and he is tops in when it comes to faceoffs.

but right now he is tanking hard offensively so i dont tihnk we should trade him unless we get something in value back, but i think he can certainly get something of value back

It was a joke actually..

How about Vermette + for Cole?

Are you guys trying to move Cole? I am not sure I think I read that somewhere.

i dont know if we are TRYING to move him but if anything came up for him Tamballini would listen. Cole has been decent lately if he keeps it up he will have way more value. I would hang on to him until the deadline or near than, unless a Kovalchuk or Spezza is involved and hed be packaged ..

Vermette has been **** this year but hes been terrific in the faceoffs. Edmonton hasnt had much success since Reasoner and Stoll left in the faceoff dot so it makes sense.

Both players can do better than what their stats show. Perhaps, such a swap would benefit them both, who knows.

Vermette's value is low right now (if you look at the team before today). I'd keep him for now.

I've always been a fan of Vermette. I'd love to see him in Edmonton, plus we need a good face-off guy.

I don't really like the idea of moving Grebs, but I wouldn't mind trading Cole.

From a Sens perspective, a big no to the deal. We could use a puck mover, but preferably someone with some proven skill and experience, not just potential.

Grebs is okay but he's got a little over a season of experience, and wouldn't be a better option on the PP that Picard or Kuba, so it would be a bad deal.
