Nashville 9 Pittsburgh 4

As a Flyer fan, its almost my duty to hate the teams in my division. But I feel so much pity on the Penguins and their fans I don't find this possible to do.

9 goals allowed - all by Andy Chiodo

6 power play goals

5 points for Dan Hamhuis

Jeremy Stevenson and Jim McKenzie saw power play time.

Is this team worse than the '74 Caps that had 9 wins?

The sad thing is, the Preds haven't exactly looked very good. We'd likely have lost if we were playing most any other team. This was a similar effort to the one against Philly and we got stomped in that one 5-2.

The only thing that I can really look at as a bright spot (and I'm trying hard) is they didn't give up. They fought back to make it 6-4, but then took some idiotic penalties and shot themselves in the foot. It wasn't a good game at all by the Pens, but I am happy they didn't give up.

I think the better question is if anyone can stop the Preds.

The Pens sure looked like a solid team against the Isles the past couple of games.

lol, Jim McKenzie played on the pp for NJ from time to time, but that's because our pp was abysmal. We literally had nobody else to stand in front of the goal.

Does anyone know the record for most PP goals allowed in a game?

its not their fault if they are restricted by their financial situation. if they hadn't had money problems, they'd be one of the best teams in the league with a roster of something like

Lemieux - Hrdina - Jagr
Straka - Lang - Kovalev
Malone - Holzinger - Morozov
Koltsov - Buchberger - Surovy

Tarnstrom - Kasparitus
Ference - Berehowsky
Orpik - Melichar

Hedberg
Aubin

at least they have an excuse. what is nyr or washington's?

The thing I would be worried about as a Preds fan is the fact that Vokoun allowed 4 goals against the Pens. Granted, I didn't see the game so it may not have been his fault, but he has cooled off after a hot start.

It doesn't matter though if you can score 9 goals a game Sullivan was just a great pickup by Poile.

like previous posters said, this wasn't a very satisfying win for the Preds, simply because we looked VERY sloppy, five on five. we just happen to have a power play that, since acquiring Steve Sullivan...is somewhere near 35 percent. i'm terribly concerned about our defense right now, and i think that picking up sutton or odelein isn't going to help. losing york is turning out to be a huge blow, and i think we might need to look at one of our higher prospects and turning it into jason smith or brendan witt. this was all well and good against the penguins, but i have a feeling it won't fly in ottawa on saturday.

only 1 of the goals was what i'd call "vokoun's fault." our defense is just THAT bad, right now. we're okay in the top two pairings...but when you get to the third pairing...it's hutchinson...who is abysmal defensively...and either schnabel or allison...neither of which is cutting it.
