Shanahan to sign with an NHL team this week?

Posting says shanny's agent said "will be signing with an NHL team before the end of this week, possibly as soon as Wednesday".

Quote:
Curran would not identify the number of teams Shanahan is considering, but the Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks are believed to be the most interested.

I think that would be a good fit if it were a 1-year contract. But I just don't think it will happen.

If I had to guess I would say that Shanny goes to the Flyers.

I have been saying the Blues since the offseason. Sticking with that.

In a few other sources it was said that Shanny is looking for a 1.5 - 2 mill contract. Which would eliminate the Flyers and Devils. Also, it was said that Shanny is not interested in the Blues. So that leaves Chicago, Pitt, and Boston. My hunch is he goes to Boston.

Agreed, as much as I would like it to happen, it probably won't.

Edit: And to the post above, because they are overloaded with forwards and lead the leauge in scoring, where would he fit in?

I don't think you can say he excelled there, I mean he won 3 Cups in Detroit and was key for them. If anything, he should be remembered most for his Detroit days.

I think he'll end up in one of the teams in the Atlantic, whichever one ponies up the most dough.

Last I heard, he has his kids enrolled in a New York school and his wife loves the city, but we shall see.

we need the right forward... we need a guy like Shanny right now.

Hartnell was benched in the 3rd today because he was dogging it (which I must say I don't think I've ever seen before)

Lupul was demoted to the 4th line a couple games ago because he was dogging it.

We NEED someone who will go 100% every shift, take responsibility for it, and show the other players how and why it's done.

Bewilders me why Gillis isn't going after Shanahan harder (at least publically).

Don't like Shanny, he's a pain in the arse. But you cant deny that he would be a boon for our disgusting powerplay...

More to the point, what number would he wear with the Devils?

Why would that contract eliminate the Devils? Plenty of cap space... Not sure how much the Flyers have, cant be much...

It's also well known that Shanny would rather stay in the Tri-State area. Kids, wife etc...

exactly what he said, also Richards seems to be pooping the bed in the Captain area as well! This team needs more veteran leadership. The "C" should have gone to Timo instead.

chicago doesn't have enough cap space, and we're not sending barker down, as he's played awesome
