Only one that makes moderate value sense to me is the second one. But they are interesting fantasy proposals.

Bruins/Sens: Seems OK considering Spezza's locked up long term and younger then Savard make the 2009 2nd into one of their firsts maybe.

I like the Thrashers/Pens one.

I know they are just for fun, but there is no chance Lidstrom gets traded, same can be said about Datsyuk..

That is a horrible trade for Calgary, if lidstrom is 28 its more likely, but a 36(possibly all-time great) doesnt warrant a 23 year old who should contend for a few Norris's before his career is up. Plus i would take Iginla over Datsyuk, although that is alot closer in value.

I wouldn't do the Boston one. You can argue all you want that Spezza is better and younger, but I don't care. We need the cap room and Savard saves us 2 million over Spezza.

The Malkin one actually isn't horrible for Pitt. They add Kovy who would put up 60+ with Crosby.... Also a potential franchise D-man to go along with a future core of Letang, Goligoski, Whitney. Add Bogosian to that and it's deadly. And that 1st can easily be a top 10.

I actually think Pitt does it. But I doubt ATL does, as it kills them now and in the future.

trade 1 - not enough to Vancouver
trade 2 - no comment, but IMO Malkin has more value right now than Crosby so it is definatly even
trade 3 - Spezza do NOT have that much value IMO
trade 4 - ok sure works for me but make a 3rd a 1st any season the have it
trade 5 - Detroit walks off laughing their ***** off Lindstrom and Datz for Dion and Iggy, not even close to enough going to the wings, plus the wings arent a team to make these kinda huge trades

So teh one you guys like is:

Penguins Receive: Ilya kovalchuk, Zach Bogosian, 2009 1st
Atlanta Receives: Evengi Malkin, 2009 3rd

I think it helps Atlanta in that it will get more fans to teh games, and put them on a bigger stage

The Pens get more talent possibly but the Thrashers get a franchise player who is very marketable

Pens don't do that trade, we bascially become Ottawa a one line team. Malkin is signed a lot longer than Kovalchuk, its good value wise but Shero wouldn't touch it

Except your defense and goalie situation is 1000x better than Ottawa's.

You'd also be adding Bogosian though.

I think that deal would be VERY hard for Pittsburgh to turn down.

Bogosian, Gonchar, Orpik, Letang, Goligoski, Whitney is a very scary D and even opens (even more so than it is now) an oppurtunity to trade one for a top 6 winger.

Are you kidding? an impending ufa....you can just say that it won't happen, but to say that Luongo is worth Carter Giroux and a first in a really deep draft is total crap.....and Luongo's situation (injuries and UFA soon) makes it even worse. Giroux for Schneider would be better.

I think the pens would do it....right now, they don't have any really great winger....and adding bogosian would really help them.

It's not very long.....if they can't sign him long-term before, this deal is great value-wise. We won't include Carter in a deal that would bring us only one year of Luongo.....

I have little doubt that the Pens would do it, I question whether not Atlanta would do it. The ball is in their court. They blow their draft prize and franchise superstar. Not saying they aren't getting equal value coming the other way, but they are certainly giving up a lot. Malkin's contract is probably what makes it more worth it. It is a pretty solid deal, but for as many criticisms that are thrown after this one I see an equal amount of praises. It is up in the air.

I'd do the Wings trade if they took Warrener and Eriksson and sent Hank, Mule, and Holmstrom our way.
