Trades for a New Kings Goalie

The Kings are in need of a good goalie...
A goalie that can take them to playoffs..
Anyone have some proposals that are reasonable?

If the Blue Jackets are comfortable with Mason, than I think we should take a risk on Pascal Leclaire.

I know that they need especially a puck moving defenseman, which is something the Kings don't really have plenty of....

He's played in 4 of the last 5 and has been winning. He's the starter, DeBoer's going to ride the hot netminder, though. I'm sure Martin would listen to offers, and good GM would, but it'd likely be costly to land him right now. Florida paid a lot to get him.

And what's wrong with Toskala? Just surprised at the "keep dreaming" response.

Not this again lol... I can't see the Kings making any major moves for a big goaltender. We have stopgap and I cannot see Lombardi giving up assets because of the bad luck in losing him for a few weeks. Can't think of very many that would work well for us outside of riding Ersberg to Bernier.

Rick Dipietro for L.A's 1st round pick and a mid level prospect.

No I'm not kidding.

Anderson wouldn't be too shabby either.

Nothing is wrong with Toskala, but it's gonna take more than Vesa alone to get O'Sullivan away from the Kings.

Rick DiPietro is worth a 1st rounder, though probably not a top-10 pick, given his injury history. His contract, on the other hand, is not.

No team will touch that contract - the last 8 (eight!) years of it are uninsurable, and he's shown himself to be as durable as paper towel.

Strange as it sounds, I see T-Vo being moved before Andy is, though, that's scary to me. Should Vokoun be moved, a capable starter would have to coming to Florida at somepoint (either same time or within hours), in case Anderson faulters. Really, they'd need a solid backup anyway. Shantz, Beckford-Tseu, and Plante aren't close to NHL calibre goalies, not remotely close.

Why are Toronto fans willing to move a guy like Toskala? Surely it's not due to Pogge's ability to stop the Thrashers.

No it's just that any asset we believe we can move to help the rebuild we are open to it.

One of Harding or Backstrom might be available at the deadline.

Another huge question lingering in the heads of Kings fans. DL has a spending allowance this season and would have to put himself on the line a little to overspend. Our ownership is not committed to winning this season, they want to save this season and try and win next season. Thus, in the end, our ownership had no inclination to give us help in goal this season, it is not in the budget, which just adds to the reasons why LA can't really be considering these options.

Now that is a very intriguing proposal. Has Kari fallen that far? Or is it because the relationship with the Thrashers has soured that much?

Please let it true please. If it were Backstrom, we wou have to know he would have a long extension, or at least 3 years

The problem is....if he is traded at the deadline it probably would not help the Kings this year........the Wild would probably want a 1st round pick for Backstrom.....and the Kings 1st round pick would likely be in the 5th-10th overall range. Would a pick that high, in a deep draft, be worth sacrificing to obtain a 31 year old goalie for 3 years?

Or would it be better to hope that Backstrom reaches UFA status and sign him without losing an asset, while still being able to use that top 10 pick?

No.....it just appears his development is not progressing at the pace we hoped for. Right now it appears he is 3 or 4 years from making a real impact at the NHL level (if at all).
