I'm going to laugh my ass off ...

When by the end of the trade deadline the Leafs end up with a HUGE haul for all the "trash" players like Kaberle, Kubina, Antropov, Poni, White, Toskala etc etc. I will make sure I go through some of the threads and pick out the worst offers from opposing teams' fans who claimed with utter confidence that "no one wants Kubina for his salary especially not my team" or "Kaberle lost value he's not the same and he's older - my team doesn't need him we're amazing as we are" or "Antropov is a UFA next year, you'll be lucky if you get a late 2nd and a low end prospect for him".

I hope you like crow because you'll be having it sooner rather than later.

Trying to give this thread some substance... What do you expect for Kubina, Antropov et al.?

For Kaberle - Regardless of salary exchange, a high 1st and a high or above average prospect + a late 2nd or 3rd

For Kubina - If the other team is taking most of the salary then a mid/high 2nd + average prospect. If the other team wants to exchange salary or take on only around 50% then a 1st (15-30) plus an average prospect.

For Antropov - A mid-first plus a 3rd or an above average prospect (I think I'm undervaluing him but I can't imagine Antropov netting a high first if Kubina isn't getting that - although the difference is the salaries plus age)

Maybe it was all of the above. Or maybe it's the fact that groin injuries are the nagging type that have a history of returning at the worst possible time.

kaberle agree
kubina.... how would the other team only take half the salary ?
antropov ? i wouldnt pay too much for... the guy isnt a legit top 6 forward on most teams

It would either be a complete salary dump or the other team would send a player back with half of Kubina's salary. Kind of like the McCabe for Mike VanRyn trade that went down earlier in the off season.

Antropov has finally got over his injuries and has been playing really well since last year. People assumed his production was a product of Sundin but he's kept it up this year and is on pace for 70 points I believe.

Why don't you throw out some proposals. What do you think you'll get for Toskala?

You would be dealing them to PO teams I suppose. Those teams normally don't have high 1sts...

Well I'm guessing that most playoff teams wouldn't have the space to take on Kubina's entire salary either - right about now I can't think of many if any teams that are playoff teams and can take Kubina as a salary dump.

That's alright - and I'm guessing you also read the post where I made a couple of proposals/expectations.

Well, there are not much teams left, then.

Well I meant specific teams and players, and you didn't make any regarding Toskala.

Dallas isn't a playoff team but they have cap space (Zubov, long term IR) and possibly a high 1st if they're interested - though I doubt they trade it. Then again, the season is far from over.

I don't have any specific teams and players in mind. It's too early to tell what each teams' needs and wants will be come trade deadline but that's the general return I'm expecting for those players.

For Toskala, I'm not sure. Beginning of the year I would've said a high first or at the very least a mid first. But the way he's been playing so far and judging from Huet's return last year I think we'd be pretty lucky to get a 2nd and a prospect ... unless he improves. Which he's capable of doing right now.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if Kaberle refuses to waive his NTC at the deadline.
