Bouwmeester and Horton to Montreal

Here is my proposal :

Bouwmeester and Horton
for
Higgins, Plekanek, McDonaugh and a 1st

I've been thinking about it and I'm wondering what fans from both teams think. I think it could help both teams, but what would I need to add or take out ?

Horrible ...its so bad that you shouldnt be allowed to post on HF.
Typical mtl homer....over rating your players...

Bouwmeester and Horton in a package would command WAY more than what you offered...
just a straight up ugly proposal

This seems perfectly reasonable and realistic. Well done.

You'd need to add someone good from Montreal, that's what you would need to add.

Horton is on pace for 35 whole points and Bouwmeester is on pace for 45............these guys are just lighting it up!!!

I don't know what Florida fans are thinking they will get for these guys, but with Horton making $4M and producing close to diddly and Bouwmeester not exactly the #1 D-man offensively and a pending UFA, I think the package that Florida does get will surprise many......

And some can argue about potential and all that, well the same argument can be applied to the players from Montreal.........Plecanec is potentially a 70 point center, Higgins is potenitally a 35 goal man, McDonaugh is potentially a #1 D-man.........

My offer from Montreal...

To MTL: Horton, 1st rd pick
To FLA: A.Kostitsyn, S.Kostitsyn

Florida is playing well, but it hasn't been long enough that I'd consider it a turn around rather than a hot streak. That first alone could be better than both Kostitsyns. I don't see the risk being worth it at this point.

I can't agree with that. The Kost brothers are worth more than a first.

To get both Bouwmeester and Horton?

If Bouwmeester agreed to sign long-term first (I think he'd do it for Montreal) I'd say the Habs would have to give up:

Pacioretty, McDonagh, Latendresse, Subban, Halak and a 1st

I think you need to elaborate. I think also think that you sound more like the typical anti-montreal homer than I sould like the typical montreal homer. "It's so bad I shouldn't be allowed to post on HF" ?. Come on.

really dont see florida doing this, no reason to move horton. He just signed an extension since coming back from his injury he has looked good on the ice and had the "fire" alot of fans seem to whine they wanted to see from him. He was playing hurt and out of position to start the year. Now he is healthy and in position. No reason to trade a potential talent like him that has proven he wants to be in florida with signing a long term deal.

Florida doesnt need this move to make the playoffs they just need the status quo.

They also could get more individually for these two players then together in this deal.

I don't think so

Bouwmeester can barely support the media pressure in Florida LOL

imagine what it would be in Montreal

Bouwmeester is scared of cameras and fears the microphones

Florida is actually the best place for him to play...as long as there's a winning team there

MTL would need to add another piece with some value. Higgins hasn't done anything significant this season, and I thought he was hurt, not sure on that.

Like SouthFLFan79 said, we could probably got more for them if traded individually.

Also, no reason for us to trade either of them as long as we're winning. Horton I wouldn't mind giving the boot since he's been pretty awful. Though having watched his whole NHL career, when he decides to play he's insane. And sure as hell, if we decide to trade him, the second we do, he'll turn into an all-star.

I think you might actually see a different vibe from Bouw come out quite soon. There is chatter going around now that the Panthers arent totally out, as far as resigning him is concerned. Bouwmeester never said anything bad about his time down there, only that he wanted to see some stability and a winning experience. Well, the Panthers have the stability now in Martin and DeBoer, and they are playing some of the best hockey in the league, going 9-2-3 in their last 14 games. If they keep playing the way they have, I can see Martin going back to the 3/$21 million offer he made to Bouw in the offseason.

I'm not just to defend a HAB fan , I'm here to say that I'm very surprised at the comments/responses here, and as usual at how mean/rude people can be, I never understood why people have to be so mean to each other, it's a Hockey's Boards for crying out loud!! it's all for fun, chit-chat, kit-kat time!! ).

That said/written...I actually don't agree with FF de Mars wanting to give so much for a Dman who will soon be UFA and ask for $5 - $6mil or more/year (our Habs already have Komisarek to pay, maybe $4mil/year or more). And Horton is signed for how long? 1-2 more years only? and then what? he will ask for $4-5 mil+/year

In a salary cap world it's smarter to keep Higgins (RFA), Plekanec (RFA), McDonagh (excellent/solid D prospect) and a 1st Rounder (I assume you're refering to 2009?).

People can come here and dump their anger and bitterness all over(!!) here, but I'd (imo) keep our First Rounder, Higgins, Pleks, and especially...McDonagh (can't wait to see him wear the CH).

I'd rather Bob Gainey come up with something that won't make us lose our 1st Round Pick + McDonagh...it doesn't have to be a huge "package" deal (good things don't always come in big packages!! ).

Let another team trade for Bouwmeester...JayBo is pure talent and fun to watch (great/fluid/smooth skater), but...IN MY OPINION he is not a warrior (not gritty/physical enough for playoffs and especially for the size/height he has, and...guess what?!! I could be wrong!! ).

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone!! (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's!! )

Wow, way to know absolutely nothing about Horton. First of all, he was injured and is just coming back. Secondly, he was being used at center as an experiment that failed and his numbers suffered. He's back with Weiss and Booth and will start scoring soon.

So Horton being on pace for 35 whole points is a bad thing when he missed time with an injury, but the Kostitsyn brothers being on pace for 32 points is obviously just fine.
