Russian National Team in 2010

What will Russia's top team look like in 5 years, granted that Steblin will be long gone, that our young stars will be around 25, and that everyone will accept to play?

Post a roster, or the complete lineup.

Good lineup, I think Perezhogin could also find himself on that team

Im not very familiar with the positions but you will forgive me...

Kovalchuk-Grigorenko-Afinogenov
Ovechkin-Malkin-Lisin
Frolov-Datsyuk-Zherdev
Samsonov-Chubarov-Semin
(the lines aren't in order)

Others: Trubachev, Pestunov, Perezoghin, Shishkanov, Chistov and the line of Voloshenko-Yunkov-Radulov (maybe they could be the best Russian line since the KLM line)

I don't know the pairings, but the players would be: Tjutin, Kalinin, Volchenkov, Babchuk, Grebeshkov, Kondratiev.

Goalies: Bryzgalov, Medvedev, Khudobin

This is a good lineup, a bit more realistic, and fits into what we've seen from the Russian Federation when it comes to making National teams

Donīt know exactly about the D but my offens would be something like this:

Kovalchuk Malkin Cherepanov
Ovechkin Datsyuk Zherdev
Semin V.Kozlov/Kaigorodov A. Radulov
Frolov Svitov/Anisimov Afinogenov

3:rd and 4:th centers are uncertain, but if Svitov or Anisimov develop nicely I think they would fit perfect. I saw a short glimpse of Kovalchuk-Malkin, they showed some chemistry (olympics I think). Second line would be amazing with possible Zherdev-Datsyuk magic and Ovechkin as finisher. All in All amazing offense IMO.

hey, clearly i am a Rangers fan, yet i don't know much about this kid. do you have anymore insight that you'd be willing to type up about Anisimov? all i know is that many say he is really big, needs to put on weight but was a 1st-Rounder that slipped this year..

how is his development so far and would it be better to stay in the RSL or come here next season?

Nikulin, Zubov, and Mirnov could make good runs on forward. Lyamin, Atuyshov, and Anikeyenko could push for defense. Volchenkov will make defense, who knows, Gimayev and Megalinsky could push for 7-8 d-man. But I could be biased though

Note the sacasm in some of those picks.

I think it's a bit early to start putting Cherepanov on the first line.

I guess there's no doubt about the goalies - Bryzgalov, Varlamov and Nabokov

Defense. I think Volchenkov, Markov and Kalinin - 100%. Others may be Tyutin, I. Nikulin, K. Koltsov, V. Vishnevsky

Ovechkin-Datsyuk-(Morozov)/(Zherdev)
Semin-Malkin-(Kulemin)
Kovalchuk-?????-(Cherepanov)
Frolov-Chubarov/(Svitov)-(Radulov)

A.Markov-Kalinin
Tyutin-Volchenkov
(Belov)-(Emelin)

Nabokov/Bryzgalov/(Koshechkin)/(Kasutin)/(Varlamov)

????? - Zinoviev, Kaigorodov, Kuryanov, A. Nikulin, Ilya Zubov, Anisimov.

Seriously, how good are we gonna be come 2010?

Please, no Soviet nostalgia. In two years we'll be watching the most exciting and skillful team in hockey history. It's going to be like the Pele lead Braizl 1970 WC team. We're bringing home the gold and we're gunna do it on Canadian soil.

Whos with me?
