russia might be screwed if Markov cant play olympics as the defense already looks weak.

THAT weak defense did handle everyone during the last 2 WC.

Russia must be very weak if Markov is all what they got. no need to overreact here.

I watched Magnitogorsk's game today ... I'm worried about Sergei Fedorov. He looks pretty bad out there. His ice time has gone down as he barely plays more than 10 minutes a game now.

Fedorov had a slow start to the season but since then he's had 3 goals, 7 points in 8 games.

He will be the leader for the Russian squad, if they want to bring home the gold that is.

I am pretty sure Fedorov will not be going. It's kind of clear by now who the 4 centers will be, me thinks

Sure, the only way Feds edges Tereshhenko, if he shines in the next two month while Tereshhenko disappears. Or as 13th forward.

You guys really think that after all of BZ's comments of respect to Fedorov (and his inclusion to the Channel 1 Cup squad), he won't be invited? I'd rather have him centering Ovechkin & Semin for at least 12-14 minutes/game rather than Tereschenko.

I'd Rather See Malkin centering Ovechkin and Semin then Fedorov, and that is what I think we"ll see. I belive we will see these lines combo's

1st line Ovechkin Malkin Semin
2nd line Kovalchuck Datsyuk Frolov
3rd line Victor Kozlov Zinojev Radulov (They play together in Ufa)
4th Line Zaripov Tereshenko Morozov (they play together in Kazan)

Thats my opinion as to the lines we'll see at the upcomming Olyimpics.
Of course injury's can change all that.

no Afinogenov ?
he is having a good year in Atlanta, and every single game hes improving, and i put him on Kovys line as it seems theres a special bond between the 2 of them, same reason i have Semin as right wind with Ovy
i would take Afi any time over guys like Morozov or Kovalev--
before 2 last bad years he had, he would have been a lock for the olympic team, now he is back to his previous level of play---

only player to take his spot on right wing 2nd line is Radulov-- who if to be played on 3rd line has a chance of playing with Saprygin if Bykov decides to bring him to Olympics ( we know they played great at WC)
not only each guy deserves to be on those lines but every single line has at least 2 players who have a history of playing great with each other

Saprykin is having a lousy season, second in a row mind you. Khomutov just took him out of the roster for an unnamed amount of games. Does he get traded to SU to play with Radulov?

It's weird that Saprykin is only good when paired with Radulov.

If it was up to me (and at the risk of chemistry) I'd replace Saprykin with Frolov and put Afinogenov on Kovalchuk's line.

Ovechkin - Datsyuk - Semin
Kovalchuk - Malkin - Afinogenov
Frolov - Zinoviev - Radulov
Zaripov - Tereschenko - Morozov
Fedorov

I dunno whether I would choose Tereshenko over Fedorov even considering the fact that it's a complete line from Ak Bars. I also really dislike Frolov, I think he was majorly overrated and is a floater, I would either put Saprykin for chemistry or Sushinskiy 'cause he's having helluva season, may be Kovalev too

if Zaripov, Zinoviev and Morozov are part of the trip to Vancouver, then you better put them on the same line, otherwise it doesn't make much sense bringing all three.

Which KHL'ers on the Russian Olympic team?

For those of you who watch the KHL regularly:

Given that Tretiak has said KHL players will make up a substantial portion of the Russian Olympic team, which players would you like to see on the squad?

Nikulin, Kalinin, Radulov, Zinoviev, Morozov, Fedorov, Zaripov - 100%. Not sure about Saprykin, Sushinskiy, Proshkin, Tverdovskiy.

The Canadiens are in line for an early Christmas present with the return of defenseman Andrei Markov.

Markov, arguably the team’s best player, has been out of the lineup since some tendons in his right leg were severed in the first game of the season in Toronto. The original prognosis was that he would be out until February.

But Markov’s recovery has gone much more quickly than expected. He has been practicing with the team for a week and expects to see the doctor Monday to get a clearance for contact. It’s unlikely that he’ll be in the lineup Monday when the Buffalo Sabres are in Montreal, but he’s hoping to play Wednesday at New Jersey or against Minnesota on Thursday.

Agree with this word for word.

I would leave Tereschenko at home too.
