I really don't know what happens to thomas this season but he seems lost all the time he got the puck... Last year he was my favorite player on the team with great offensive vison and solid defensive play but this year without is solid defensive play in our zone he will useless.
I want to know if somebody have a solution because we need is offensive contribution to be competitive this season.
p.s. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for everyone on HFBOARDS
He is really worrying me as well. Not willing to take hits to make plays. If he was a wimp at a PPG it wouldn't be that bad, but he has 13 points which is pathetic.
Well his point production is down largely because the powerplay is dead, also I believe the chemistry lost because of Kovy's slow start is also affecting him.
Also with any new young player, usually after a breakout season, the rest of the league
catches up and checks him harder, sophmore slump?

^ its his 4th NHL season, not really a "sophomore" slump but I agree I think he'll be slumpin most if not all year and we'll see a better Pleky again next year

I don't think it's a simple slump. He's not going out there and giving the extra effort to get points. He skates in the zone and turns back, throwing the puck in the corner for someone else to get it.
I believe he got hurt in the playoffs when checked hard and is now scared. I have no idea how to correct that.
He doesn't have any confidence right now,you see it when he has the puck and all the time in the world he just tries to rush a pass or take a bad shot. You saw it the other night he was so frustraded, all alone in front of the net and he shot it over the mesh!!! Im still not gonna give up on him but he is starring to worry me a bit,but im sure with a bit of luck and confidence he will bounce back and have a solid 2nd half
Probably the most disappointing hab this year. However, I like how he's simplified his game recently. When things arent going well for a skilled guy, I dont like it when they try blind passes. Pleks is now dumping the puck into the zone and trying to use his speed to retrieve it. Hopefully, he can start building confidence playing this way and start to regain his puck poise.
I also dont recall him losing so many battles along the boards before. I dont know if he's hurt or what, but he needs to get it back.
Because of his good performance last year other teams have zoned in on him and he isn't as effective....I think we have overated his abilities....I don't see him truely being a clutch first or second line center that can elevate the play of his wingers....and that's what we really need.
Pleks isn't the answer to our first & second line center needs...I think we should consider packaging him for some of our top needs....that's if the interest level is there...
I do think he would have value in the trading market...
I think he was a one year wonder ala Samsinov. I think hes showing his true colors, and he really isn't meant to be a first line center.
You could apply your reasoning to say that AKost is a one-year wonder and isn't meant to be a first line wing, the same for a few other Habs this season.

I don't think so.
Plekanec was doing pretty much every thing except scoring at a certain point this season.
He tried and tried, but for some reason, 0 finish.
Lately, he's looked more careless or desperate and that's normal. I mean the guy tried everything and it wasn't working. It's normal to see a drop in his play when it's been 30ish games that he's having trouble.
I have a feeling if he can get a good game right after the holidays, he'll back. Our PP was working better before the break..Our players are slowly coming back..
Things will get back on track.
Plekanec got 69 points last season. He plays often with Kovalev on our top line, I think now that opposing teams know who he is and have a game plan to shut him down, they've succeeded. Plekanec needs to sit down with Gainey, the coaching staff, Koivu and Kovalev and learn how to change and his adapt his game from shift to shift, night to night and become a harder player to check.
