Gorges=Our Best Stay at Home D-man

He's had very few poor games. Started off weak tonight, but was his usual excellent self. His plus-minus is now a staggering +17. I don't think a Hab has finished with a +/- over 30 since 92-93 (Odelin was +34 or so that year). Hamrlik is solid, Markov is very complete though more distinguished by his offense and Komisarek is the toughest one. But Gorges is the best pure defender it appears. I only worry about our bottom pairing and it speaks to depth. O'Byrne has been pretty miserable, Breezy can make colossal mistakes and is too soft for a vet d-man, and Boullion seems to small to be a shut down guy. If we can fix this, our D (already with our goalies ranked 4th best in the NHL in GAA) can be truly great.

Gorges gives it his all, and I admire him for it, but I think he's more suited to have his minutes scaled back a little bit. I worry about him getting worn down as the season progresses.

Hamrlik is THE rock back there imo. I'd put komisarek ahead of gorges too in the "stay at home" category.

I cant believe he's a plus 17 though, wow

Gorges has been awesome, but i think now that we're seeing more of the komisarek we loved last season... it's back to being him again. I think it's absolutely fantastic that we have gorges signed for 3 years though at such an affordable rate.

i agree. more mistakes have been filtering into his game since being played more. I think he could be dialed down slightly with the return of Komisarek.

If only Breezy or Bouillon could be trusted with a few extra minutes.
