they took a dive ever since the Sundin sweepstakes ended.

We lack a motivator behind the bench.

So two mental mistakes negates the other 59:58 of game play?

Are you not capable of taking any positives out of a game?

Get real guys, nothing wrong with the effort tonight.
Some brilliant individual plays on the Devil's goals, props to them.
We'll get them in the playoffs!

Well, that was entirely predictable wasn't it?

Renney has lost this team.

You cant really have both.
They're in first place because they're good at shootouts. That's about it.

This team did not play well tonight. You may think so and that is your opinion, but they were not good tonight and their effort was poor all over the ice.

They got beat along the boards consistently. They got beat to loose pucks all night. Their shot selection was poor. Most of their shots came from the PP.

There was not one aspect of the team to night that I could have been proud of. Not one.

You should know by now that the negatives will always outweigh the positives on this board. Even when we win the same people are calling for the heads of the same guys over and over and over again.

That being said, there weren't many positives tonight.

Simple things cost them. Devils won the battles along the boards. Devils supported the puck all night. The Rangers did not. The deserving team won the game. The Rangers dug deep and came up with nothing. They seem to be a hollow team without the foirtitude to overcome. They have been out-gutted in 2 straight games at home. They need to find some guts or the second half will be long, and the #7 or 8 spot will be the best we can hope for.

Renney has also gotten a lot out of them. He is getting tremendous efforts from the young guys. The veterans have to step up their game. And it is nothing that Renney can do to make them understand that. If these overpaid guys like Gomez, Drury, and Redden don't understand by now that they need to play harder then they have no business being in this league.

The plain and simple fact is they need to subtract some parts and add some parts.
Such issues could have easily been avoided had Slats just resisted his uncontrollable urge to throw away money and not signed any of them, or at least not all of them, in the first place! Maybe you are surprised at the outcome, but I'm not. Exactly what I expected from all three of them is what they've given: zilch.

But that's ok, there's no more excuses for Gomez. He's got all his old equipment back. NOW he's ready to go. Still turning the puck over constantly and taking pointless slapshots, but hey, there are no more excuses now.

The Devils established their forecheck right off the bat. The too many men penalty certainly didn't help--neither did giving up another shorthander. The Devils dominated the first period and carried the play in the corners and along the boards. The Rangers at times got a forecheck going but they never could turn the game. Gomez and Naslund were almost invisible. Drury was a -3. Korpikoski, Staal, Dawes and Lundqvist were our best players tonight. Potter played well for his 2nd NHL game. The better team won. The Rangers offense sucks.

What a lot of people fail to understand is that no coach is going to make this team great. This is a mediocre team at best as it is built.

They are soft and finesse oriented without the ability to score. Sather really screwed up on this one. This was supposed to be a year to let all the kids find their way in the absence of Jagr and Shanny but he instead wastes spaces on Voros, Redden, Kalinin and Rosie again. That's why this year feels like such a waste.

Losing Cherry didn't help but our other prospects would not hurt this team if they were playing for 1/10th the price. if Potter and Fahey were getting minutes instead of Redden and Kalinin maybe I wouldn't mind having a .500 team as much.

Now all I look at is talented kids like Zherdev, Dubi, Staal, Cally and others looking to be re-signed while we have no room because it was wasted on Redden, the worst signing in Ranger history at this point.

this isnt a winter slump. our team isnt as good as it was the past 3 seasons thats a reality.

gomez isnt playing like himself, zherdevs been good, i have no complaints with naslund, hes done the same he did in vancouver the past 2 seasons exactly what i expected, drurys been way to streaky, cally works hard, but hes not a big time goal scorer, dawes game is just now coming into shape, korpi works hard, but hes still learning, duby is in a sophmore slump, voros is a waste of space, betts sjo and orr work hard, prucha hasnt played same goes for fritsche.

girardi has been ok, not as good as some say, staal and mara have been good, kalinin not so good, but the last 2 games or so hes been alright, rozy has finally come around, and redden, well yeah no need to say anymore.

lundqvist has done the best he could he carried this team for so long, it was only a matter of time before he collapsed with the rest of the team, theres only so much the poor guy can do.
its hard to get your confidence back up when the team is playing so poorly and its a shooting gallery on you night and night again.

my expectations for this team are not high anymore, ive realized this is what we got. average team at best.

but uhm
lets go rangers?

I wish Drury was as invisible as Gomez / Naslund. Instead he was front and center on every goal he got a minus for. I'm sure he won't let this spoil his weekend though.

He will be apologizing to them tomorrow morning while he makes them their morning tea.

So what...Zherdev was benched again in the 3rd?

Only 3 players showed up tonight, Staal, Dawes and Korpi.

probably something along the lines of
"If you guys keep playing like this I might be tempted to consider the idea of maybe contemplating the notion of a chance to maybe toy with the idea of letting prucha practice with you all!!! Now who wants ice cream?"

I've been hating on Dawes all season, and I'm glad to say that he has finally picked his game up. Good for him.

As for the rest of the team minus korpikoski, lundqvist, staal, and mara...how about showing up next time.

LOL

Gomez honestly should not have ditched the Supreme One95. Best skate on the market. He was skating faster on them. And it's no mystery why... *cough* Lightspeed 2.1 runner *cough*

Stick with the One95 Gomer.

I need video of this.

I had a discussion with a friend and we both agreed that the 2 previous fights may have something to do with the outcome, but that if Rampage got lucky, Silva was in trouble.

Looks like Rampage got lucky

It was great. Silva started throwing, Rampage ducked and countered with a left hook right on the chin. Silva went down like a sack of potatoes.

Now I just need to see Rashad beat Griffin and all my predictions for the night will be right ... including the Rangers losing to the Devils.
