no one was suggesting trading Phillips for Regehr... what they are saying is because the Senators already have Phillips they don't need Regehr...

but to answer the question... the benefits of a Regehr for Phillips deal would be minimal for either side... I think the only difference would be Regehr is more punishing and Phillips carries a slightly lower cap hit

Neither team likes it (and no, that doesn't make it a good trade).

The last thing the Sens need is a stay at home d-man, and judging by the Flames posters here, the Flames don't need a player like Spezza, at least at the expense of Regehr.

I disagree with everyone saying Flames don;t need Spezza. Well, they don't but it can really boost their offense.

Who is the #1 center for Flames right now? Langkow? Camalleri?

Spezza>Camalleri>Langkow

Of course Flames shouldnt give up too much but I think Spezza can really help Iginla on 1st line.

Spezza for Camalleri and 2nd and 3rd seems like a reasonable deal to me.

I heard he was skating around center without a jersey. He's just waiting to see which team he is suiting up for.

No you mean YOU wouldn't

If Ottawa indeed wanted Regher it would cost Spezza. No use over valuing your own players when the exact opposite are coming out in every rumor. Spezza has decent trade value that's it, and every time Murray or Hartsburg roasts him in the press the value is reduced

Could we trade Volchenkov for Kopitar then?

If Sutter wants Spezza for Regehr then Sens are better off drafting a defensive D.

Hartsburg interviewed by CBC, said:

"its a league about defense" and "we need secondary scoring"!

In other news, while the Sens want at least a point from each game, Hartsburg should have gotten a better tie for a XMAS gift

Guys please stop to report the things this guy said, it's not more serious than everything you can read in the proposal you can read in this section of the forum. Nothing eklund report ever happend and it never will.

Cammalleri is a pending UFA so that doesn't make sense for Ottawa... as for the Flames #1 center... its Langkow but he doesn't play on the top line... the Flames usually play who is hot between Lombardi and Conroy on the top line so that the offense is spread around a little better... when Lombardi was hurt Cammalleri also spent some time at center with various guys getting a look on the wing...

and no one is saying Spezza wouldn't be good with Iginla... they are saying Spezza doesn't play the style of game best suited for the Flames

breaking news: Spezza scores, goal credited for Ottawa

then Spezza falls down, Calgary scores

then Spezza sets up Calgary's 2nd goal

He's playing for both teams

Spezza wouldn't be able to survive Keenan's system... It will end up like the Tanguay situation all over again.

Ottawa doesn't need Regher, We have enough players like him, and we wouldn't give up our franchise center to do it.

The alternative to Spezza for Regher would mean Calgary takes one or more of the guys who don't have NTC/NMC - and the list is pretty friggin slim pickings.

So yes, by that rationale, it would take Spezza to get Regher.

But it would never happen, so again, no need to worry.

Yeah it's hilarious that Calgary won't trade one of the league's best defensive defensemen for an overrated punk who doesn't know the first thing about defense. What are they thinking?

Who cares? No one in Ottawa would trade Spezza for Regher, so...what's the point?

We have Volchenkov as it is.

The point is that it's a TERRIBLE trade rumour for both sides as you evidently prove.

And my sub-point is that Spezza is overrated.

Vancouver just picked up a #1 C, and now they want to trade their #1 D for another #1 C?

Fail, Eklund. Even worse than usual.
