What Color Stick Tape Do You Use?

(im sure this has been posted somewhere before, but i searched, sorry if it is)

The debate that never ends White stick tape vs Black stick tape.

I personally use black, because it hides the puck better? (which may or may not be true)

Which do you use? and Why?

I usually go with black tape, harder for the goalie to see.

They say that black tape hides the puck better. I've always used black tape because it's the easiest to find in value packs.

If I had my choice I'd go for a nice hot pink. I figure it would distract the goalie for a split second... just enough to make a move or pull a quick release =)

I actually go between hot pink and neon green or as goalie I go with blue tape with my stick taped in metal heat tape (Jersey, pads and mask are blue/silver)

White. Always. Easier on the palms of your gloves. No scientific proof. Also white on blade then rubbed down with a puck.

Black. Although I was very, very tempted to purchase hot-pink / white / gray camo tape just for laughs at the rink.

White, it blends with the ice better.

I played with sticks as white as I could make them without pissing off the team's sponsors.

As a goalie... white. Multiple reasons:

1. White tape hides the blade position better, forcing the shooter to focus a bit more on their shot (and thus giving me more time). For the same reason, I use pads and gloves that are mostly white.

2. White tape for the knob doesn't look like a puck. Black tape for the knob does, and may lead to refs calling goals if they see the knob of the stick in the net.

3. With white tape, there's no bleeding of colour from the white tape onto my white equipment. With black tape, there may be some as the blade of my stick rubs against my pads. If you don't think this is an issue, check the outer sides of a goalie's pads, their gloves, their jerseys... they'll probably be red from rubbing against the posts and crossbar.

4. I love the look of puckmarks on white tape.

As a player, it depends what position I'm playing:

1. For forwards, black tape hides the puck better. It may give a slight advantage against goalies, making it harder for them to track the puck.

2. For defence, white tape blends into the ice surface better. Playing against forwards, this may make them second-guess where my stick is when I'm sweep/poke-checking.

On my Lidstrom i use Black, Forsberg i use white.
No reason for either. Black can help hide the puck though.

I use black because I prefer friction/sticky tape. The top of the stick is always white, about the width of my glove (6" maybe), with a very small cap. I tape the entire blade and the stick is about up to my nose (More of an all around stick, not to long, not too short).

I am experimenting however. On my new One70 stick I got the 77 flex Sr., cut it to the 92 flex line, and taped only the mid/toe part of the blade, around the toe Ovechkin style. This stick is about an 1"/2" below my chin on skates.

I don't really buy into the color thing, you can say black hides the puck better, while white blends with the ice making the shot harder too see. I'm not sure, if the goalie is good enough this won't effect him, maybe if he forgot his glasses.

One thing I don't do is use an overly unique tape color. A goalie friend of mine used to make fun of me because I used red tape, and he would always know when I had the puck, and always knew what to expect.

EDIT: This is the same kid that uses light/baby/crease blue on the bottom of his goalie stick to trick shooters. So I don't know what's better or not.

I use that black blade tape thingy, you just stick the two sides on your blade and you're good to go for about 10-15 games/practises.

i use white on the blade, i prefer the way it looks wrapped around the toe.

i use green on the knobs on my sticks, favorite color is green, ive never seen anyone else use green ever. lots of people have one90's no one has green knobs, may help my stick from getting grabbed by mistake

I tend to use black tape if I'm playing ice...

If I'm playing roller it's normally blue.
