From bad to worse in CHI - Sutter and Arnason throw down?

Quote:
Sutter's season on the brink took a recent turn for the worse away from the rink when he got into a one-sided confrontation with second-year center Tyler Arnason at a Nashville bar Sunday night, according to six different club sources. (snip)

One account suggests the excitable Sutter had Arnason pushed up against a wall and threatened "to beat the (stuff) out of him.''
Yikes.

Inexecusable if it is in fact true. How much lower can this organization get?

I know it's been said a million times, but I really feel for Hawks fans, all six of them.

Sutter has to go now. If Smith got fired for what he did Sutter should be canned immediatley.

Coaches and players should never go out drinking together

seriously if it's true....... Sutter should be canned

The Hawks are a joke... the AHL team in Chicago outdraws them

We'll give you Arkhipov and a pass to Bar Nashville, which is far better than Tootsies Orchid Lounge.

If you knew anythinga bout the Hawks and Sutter-Arnasons problems from the past you would know your above statement is pretty dumb. Arny is a very quite person who has been taking Sutter crap for a long time. Read the article is says "One account suggests the excitable Sutter had Arnason pushed up against a wall and threatened "to beat the (stuff) out of him.''

Real nice coach we got there.

From a poster at the Blackhawkzone.com in verbatim.

"OK, let's think about the sequence of events here:

After the All-Star Break, Tyler is saddled with Scott Nichol and Travis Moen for linemates for most of four games: Nashville, Boston, Washington, and San Jose. The result: no points at 5-on-5. What a surprise. During that stretch, Tyler gets one point on the power play and one point at four on four.

THe next four games, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Columbus, and Columbus, TYler spent time with Ellison and Bell, and Keith and Bell for one game. This combination proves not to work out so well, and apparently drew the ire of the coach as they only generated one goal at even strength in those four games, giving up two. However, in one Columbus game, Sutter puts Tyler with Ruutu and Calder for a couple shifts. That line hits paydirt once.

Go to Sunday morning when apparently Sutter gets in Tyler's face, AGAIN, and tells him to play better, but puts him with Ruutu and Calder when McLean can't go. Sunday afternoon, Tyler's line generates 18 SOG, TYler had 7 himself, and two power play goals, but gives up one ES goal to FLorida in a 2-2 tie. Tyler had no points to show for his effort, but not a bad day's work for him.

Fast forward to Sunday night when TYler should be feeling pretty good about himself, and the coach should be feeling pretty good about the talk he had with the player Sunday morning.

Then the incident happens.

Something doesn't add up, people."

Sounded like the coach's good feeling had more to do with idiot juice than any talks.

I think Sutter must have had his reasons. And if he did it without a good reason, wouldn't the rest of the team would have done something?

I doubt it. Sutter sounds like he was probably pretty drunk. Your not going to step in his way or you'll be next. Plus they are hockey players and there used to watching fights not break them up.

Condolences to Hawks fans, things have taken a turn for the worst lately.

Arnason is a solid player and Chicago has many currently with the team. I hope the management/coaching issues can be worked out, because if dealt correctly, Chicago could have a very good team in the future.

Rozner the guy who wrote part of the article is on Chicago radio now and said the following.....

..."that four or five people witnessed the confrontation" and Rosey asked if it's true that Sutter had his arm under Arnason's chin and said, "let's go" and Rozner said "that's correct".

Wasn't Arnason one of the guys involved in that Fleury incident?

Not a big deal. Arnason is a partier and a drinker and Sutter is just trying to get him focused. He was with Theo last year when it all went to Hell.

There is no reason to threaten to HURT your OWN players for poor on ice play. Ever.

You take away their icetime, or scratch them. But hurt? That's inexcusable.

I really don`t think this was that big of a deal. Just sounds like a drunken argument. As far as Arnason being traded, I highly doubt it. He is a good young player and will be able to contribute as this team develops. The simple fact that this incident occured could even be a good thing as Sutter was trying to light a fire under him because he sees the potential.

I have absolutely no problem with what happened there. Coaches used to do that all the time. Some still do.

Are you folks oversensitive, rosy-types or what? This isn't a high school chest tournament, guys. It's a men's sport. Arnason is 24, I think. He's a freaking grown up and should be able to take that. Sutter is 100% right that he is too laid back.

Pat Burns has had several altercations through the years with players and nobody who cares about this sport and knows what it's about gives a crap about it. That's part of hockey, especially at the NHL level. Some coaches are harsher than others and some players need that kick in the ass.

Sutter is a 5 foot 11, 50 years old guy. What are you guys going to do if Arnason gets in a fight with Donald Brashear? Raise your purses in anger and demand a trial for attempted murder? Gimme a break.

When a team is losing constantly, those types of things tend to happen. This time, it was unfortunately in public. Which is apparently a mistake in these politically correct days where some fans seem to wear pink skirts and shed tears the minute someone is given some ****.
