BOA - Oliers @ Flames - 8:00 P.M. MST - TSN(HD) / Fan960

(17-15-3, 37 PTS)

(21-11-4, 46 PTS)

@

The Pengrowth Saddledome

Quote:
The latest installment of the "Battle of Alberta" will take place on Wednesday night at the Pengrowth Saddledome, where the surging Flames meet the Oilers in the final game of the calendar year.
Quote:
Calgary (21-11-4) is looking for its fourth straight win and sixth in seven games. The Flames are coming off a 2-1 victory over Minnesota on Monday as Eric Nystrom scored short-handed - his first goal in 25 games - with just over 11 minutes left to snap a 1-1 tie and delight the sellout crowd of 19,289.
Quote:
The Oilers (17-15-3) may have been caught looking ahead to this game. They rallied from a pair of one-goal deficits, but their three-game winning streak was snapped on Tuesday with a 3-2 loss to Ottawa that gave the Senators their first win away from Canada's capital in 13 games.
Quote:
Garon and rookie Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers, currently in the minors, have beaten Calgary this season. But with Garon having allowed nine goals en route to losing his last three starts, Dwayne Roloson - winner of three straight starts - could see his first action this season versus the Flames, a team he's struggled against in their building.

Haha, Coilers lost to the Sens . We need to win this game and separate ourselves from the rest of the NorthWest. By the time Luongo gets back, we need to be waaaaaay ahead of the 'Nucks.

The Oilers played last night so we need to start the game with extra jump and get on them early. Let's hope Kipper and the D continue their play and I'd love to see the first line start to score again. Roloson will probably start but that shouldn't matter.

  • GlenX should be ready to go which is great news since our guys play well against their former teams.
  • No Steve Macintyre, no problem!
  • No Pisani for the Oil either.
  • Hemsky is also out (can't believe I missed that one)

Hemsky is out also, as well as Pouliot. This game looks in our favour, as it's a back to back for the Oilers.

The only thing I'd be worried about is Roloson stealing this one.

Let's go Flames. It's also 4 am, and the game doesn't start for another 16 hours.

Great GDT , it's got me even more pumped up for this game !

I'm shocked to see that Souray leads them in goals. I thought someone would of had more than 11...

Here's hoping for a great BOA

GO FLAMES GO!!!

we're better team and if the flames do not go below their standard they should win . I want to see 60mins of domination on the last day of the year.

Here's hoping we end the year on the right note, by beating the Oilers. They played last night so the Flames need to jump on them early and lay the body to them.

Happy New Year's everyone!

Go Flames!

I really hope the flames embarass the oilers here but I'll predict a 3-2 score as rolie keeps them in it til the very end.

A game we should definetly win. Oilers on a back to back and there best forward out of the lineup. A win would be huge to get some seperation from the teams in the NW.

Definetly pumped for this game. Can't wait.

Go Flames Go.

Lets do a 9-2 repeat of the Chicago rout of the coilers! I wish but doubt but what about a New Years present!

Regehr ramps up Battle of Alberta - Calgary Herald

Quote:
“It’s only because Craig MacTavish always complains,” Regehr sighed Tuesday after practice at the Pengrowth Saddledome. “I don’t know why, but that’s the reason.

“He seems to complain quite a bit.”

Quote:
“(Hemsky) doesn’t blow snow like some other guys when you get him into the corner,” Regehr said. “He plays hard. He’s one of their best players, if not their best player. So you’ve got to make his life miserable.”

Quote:
“He’s complained about a number of things,” Regehr said, of the curly-topped bench boss. “I think he’s just trying to maybe send a little heads up out there for the referees and to try and get them on his side a little bit.

“But they know better than to get caught up in something like that.”

Quote:
Regehr knows MacTavish is hardly thrilled with his presence on the Calgary blueline, but he expects the Oilers coach to understand the intricacies of a running feud in the Battle of Alberta.

“He’s got a pretty good rivalry going,” Regehr said, “with Harvey the Hound.”

Anyone wanna take guesses on tonight's score?

5-2 Flames

Goals by Iggy, Connie, Phaneuf, Bertuzzi, and Cammalleri. Bourque with two assists, and a fight.

Oilers goals by Gangrene and Horcoff.

We can't lose 3 in a row to Edmonton. No one loses three in a row to Edmonton.

My predictions...

If the Flames continue their system: 3-1 Flames

If there is a bug in the system (maybe just a little too much egg nog during these holidays) 4-1 Oilers

Go Flames!!!!!!

The Flames are looking to continue their winning ways tonight against a much inferior team in the Oilers. In previous years I would get really edgy about games like this as the Flames used to play down to their competition. Not so this year, and I expect a Flames win, domination style to finish out the year. There just isn’t any real reason why the Flames should lose if they play their game and stick with the effort as of late.

Any one that has read my posts will notice I harp on two things. Consistency of Effort and Solid Physical Play. I talk about these two things as keys to winning the game near to every game. I should think the reason for that would be obvious. It’s right. When the Flames play a full sixty minute game with thundering hits and solid physical presence they win. We’ve seen it 21 times thus far.

Fantastic GDT.

I love the Regher comments. I wonder who he is going to dominate as Hemsky is understandably scared and not playing. Perhaps he can wreck Horcoff tonight.

This game is setting up for the Flames domination. Garon normally plays the Flames well but Rollie we can destroy. I can't wait to watch this game in a wine and beer induced state this evening.

Happy new years all..... and

GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!!

Go flames, hopefully I'll be able to catch some of the game but who knows on new years.

The oilers have to be a little discouraged after losing to Ottawa, I hope the flames come out real strong in the opening minutes and stick it to them.

Sure sounds like the Oilers are pumped for this game too, with Belinda Carlisle's 'Heaven Is A Place on Earth' blasting out of the visitor's dressing room earlier today (as per the Fan 960).
