Courtesy of the Tennessean.
Preview: The Predators are 3-2-0 in the second half of back-to-back games this season. Nashville has split a pair of games with the Avs this season, losing 1-0 here in November and beating Colorado 3-2 on Dec. 4 in Music City. Colorado has won two straight games and three of its past four. The Avs scored three power-play goals in a 4-3 win over Detroit on Saturday and they have the league’s 12th-best power play at home (20 percent success rate). Colorado lost leading scorer Paul Stastny to a broken arm last week. Right wing Milan Hejduk has 27 points, including a team-leading 13 goals.
Apparently Scott Nichol is out for the Preds with an upper-body injury and Pekka Rinne will be starting in goal.

Let's hope we get to see Dan Ellis by the five minute marker of the third.

GO AVS!

[edit...Hope you don't mind chiavsfan...I'm at work...and bored out of my mind.]

Here are linkies for Denver based newspaper stories...

Stastny to have Surgery Tuesday (with Nasville at Colorado update.)
Sounds like Cody McCormick has been playing hurt. Also looks like Budaj is in goal tonight.
Budaj Get's shot of confidence.

Not a problem ET...I am back at work myself (vacation was nice and relaxing). I was just coming to do this, but it's nice when others do it.

Not a lot of this game in the Denver papers, but I would assume Budaj is starting...and that the line-up will be much the same as we saw against the Wings

Although it's still relatively early in the season this is a - and I absolutely don't like this term - must win game.

Nashville will be one of our main contestant for one of the last playoff spots and with the Wild struggling, the Stars finally playing better and with Phoenix and Edmonton two teams in front of us which I don't think will make the playoffs when all is said and done, this is a really huge game tonight.

We have no reason to lose this one , it's 2 games in 2 nights and 3 in 4 nights for them.

Please, for the love of my god, beer, play Hensick on the top line with Smyth and Hejduk. Arnason looked lost between them on Saturday.

The Black-Hole-Sun looked decent between those two because he was so lost they didn't have to worry themselves with playing keep-a-way from the fat kid in the middle.
I'd rather the AVs keep Tyler on the top line and actually give Hensick a real chance on the second line rather than just keep benching TJ for no ******** reason other than the fact that every time Tony Granato looks at him he realizes how bad he's ****ed up in the past. Seriously...is there any defendable reason behind TJ's lack of minutes other than the fact that TG is trying to hide how bad he is at managing personel?

I hate to say this but it appears as if TG is running TJ Hensick out of the NHL in order to save his job. He's never given him more than 10 minutes in a game on the top lines to prove himself and keeps yanking him to either a lower line or a winger position in order to keep him from developing.

I don't care if you think we are re-building or re-tooling...either way it seems like a mistake worthy of an answer.

Jason Arnott will eat us alive!! Jordan Tootoo will take a cheap run at someone. The Avs will blow a lead in the second/third. Hensick will get benched the minute we get scored on. Wolski saves us in a shootout.

Seriously, I am wondering whats up with his slump. I know he's played well, created chances, shoots the puck and is semi-invisible [not as bad as other players] but other than the shootout I wish this kid was able to translate his skill into the score sheet. Same with Jones.

[Insert obligatory Arnason bash post here]. I know some consider this beating a dead horse, but Arnason has done relatively little as their center. Hensick isn't going to get a fair shot to play between them, and I think I saw Lappy playing with them a bit last game?? Until they get a decent center I think we're going to see a few points every few games from them, as I don't think either are developed enough (at the moment) to do it on their own on a nightly basis.

The AVs have no problems ridding a 6+M center into the grave but for some reason they faulter at giving a young kid a chance. This is why I think PL's stamp is still very much on this team. They are about this moment in time and not serious about tomorrow.

Can we like start a Arnason / Clark / Granato hate thread and take the constant whining there instead of polluting every single other thread on here with it?

It's not even New Years Day and I am already sick of "Bowl Season." They need to cut about 25 games. I could care less about the 6-9 teams playing the Hitching Post Cowboy Open.com Bowl. Snooze

Not until either Tyler, Clark or Tony is taking out of the equation.

If it wasn't for all those bowl games, the only decent event in 08 sports wise in Colorado would not have existed.

Agreed. 34 games 68 teams is way too many. Going to a bowl game used to mean something.

Not for me. That was just another **** game between a MWC and WAC team. Although CSU played well and deserves credit for that.

CU beating WVU was a larger accomplishment than CSU beating a weak Fresno team in Albequerque.

Personally I think the game between the Avs and Red Wings Saturday night was a bigger event than the New Mexico Bowl. The New Mexico Bowl only drew 6,000 more people than the Avs game Saturday night and that was a football game.
