Phillips is a leader in the dressing room and a very respected player. His value goes way beyond his actual play on the ice
Gilbert is young, and will be a good defenseman in the future but is not enough to move a veteran defenseman who has been great year after year for us, except for the extremely important first 30 games of the season
Oilers get a solid stay at home defenseman(-19???), and the Sens get a puck moving defenseman, and some secondary scoring.
I usually don't care for +/- stats but Phillips -19 is a concern. At this pace he'll be a -46!!!! Thats worse than Souray
Never said they would be better just said they could turn into the Dmen we need. Even though both are developing very nicely if you have not noticed. And just for argument sake go compare Smid and Phillips as 20 and 21 year olds and Smid may surprise you as he is really close if you compare the two at the same age. So do not rule out Smid he could be better or just as good by the time he plays 10 years in the NHL. Remember he is only 22 years old. He is bigger and might have more grit too. This year he might be having a better year statiscally with less minutes and games. Go look thanks for coming out though.
So we should be constantly rebuilding because our developing talent are as good as a current player was when he was the same age? You have to give to get.

Thank you. I was born in Victoria, but that doesnt mean I'm a Canucks fan....not even close

I thought about that, but I tried to be fair and not just add players that I want for our crap(like Stortini)
It seems both teams fans hate this deal equally so it must be fair
