Over this time we go 7-3-2. I think the players look back and see we haven't done so well. I like the new line combos and I think they will be more focused. I am very optimistic so that might skew my predictions but I guess we will see. Would be fun to see what everything thinks and at the end of the month see who was right . (I know it wont be me)

Thoughts/predictions??[/QUOTE]

Pens wont catch us and I believe when its all said and done we finish ahead of the Habs as well, #4 or 3 sounds right. We'll either be 1st or 2nd in the Atlantic, damn the nay-sayers

Right now the standings are:
Rank Team Pts
1 BOS 58
2 WAS 49
3 NYR 49
4 MON 46
5 PHI 45
6 NJD 43
7 PITT 42
8 Buff 39

Factor the average pts per game and multiply it by the difference between the number of games the team has played vs the Rangers, then round it off you'll get:
Team Avg Total
BOS 1.611111111 5
WAS 1.324324324 3
NYR 1.256410256 0
MON 1.314285714 5
PHI 1.25 4
NJD 1.264705882 6
PITT 1.166666667 4
Buff 1.083333333 3

Add those points to the current point total and the rankings become become:
Rank Team Pts
1 BOS 63
2 WAS 52
3 MON 51
4 NYR 49
5 PHI 49
6 NJD 49
7 PITT 46
8 Buff 42

Rangers Philly and a Brodeur-less Devils are in a 3 way tie for the division and one team will be in 3rd place. The other two would be tied for 5/6 behind Montreal with Pitt three points behind.

The Rangers avg pts per game is 1.3, subtract their 5-0 start of the season and their pts per game drops to 1.1. The only team on the list who's at 1.1 ppg is Buffalo in the #8 spot.

Sorry...the tabs are all nice in the editor but the columns look nasty once I save and post it.

I think we beat washington after this 4 day rest. We've had Pitt's number this year i think we beat then on the 5th, montreal has had our number so i say we lose to them, buffalo also i say we lose to them. ottawa i say rutuu gets destroyed by orr and gives us a spark to win. islanders i saw a close one but a rangers win. chicago... do i need to explain myself? i say pitt finally beats us in OT. Anaheim i say shoot out win, carolina 2-3 goal victory, another OT loss at Pitt htis time in a shootout, and then to boston a shoot out loss there also.

I'm depressed. I've been watching some western teams play like Detroit, Chicago, and San Jose and I don't see how we'd ever stand a chance versus them. The Blackhawks sure knew how to build a team correctly.

Detroit definetly has not lived upto last years potential
san jose has finally come back to earth
chicago started absolutely awful and got hot ,lets not pretend they are unbeatable power rangers now.

They were a lottery pick three years in a row.

hahaha seriously. Even Glen Sather choking on his cigar would have known enough to take Kane and Toews.

I'm glad we've all predicted Januray. Now I don't have to bother watching.

We can beat every single team in the NHL.

Will we? No.

But we can. And who knows if/when this team gets hot?

We can't beat Washington? Seriously? Like...seriously?

Since when does Pittsburgh own us?

We can't beat Anaheim? Didn't we do that already?

On the road in Chicago will be a great test. Good thing this team usually plays better against the best.

We can't beat Montreal at home?

My gosh. With the outlook some of you seem to have in life, it's a shock to me no one has committed suicide.

Let's watch and see what happens.

And every single team in the NHL can beat us. So what?

They are around 5-4-1 for a month or so. Someone doesn't need to be suicidal to assume that Rangers will continue to win just half of their games.

So the point of your knowledge is what?

If you are Jesus I apoligize. If you aren't, then I don't care about your opinion of this team for the rest of the year.

All I know is this team is not as bad as it has played lately. This is an 82 game season.

The Rangers since the lockout have played their best hockey in February and March. If they start in Januray this time with the HUGE advantage they have in the standings compared to the past few years they'll be in great shape.

Do I think this team is going to win the Stanley Cup? No, not really.

But let's have perspective. This team is not as bad as you and everyone else makes them out to be.

penguins 3 times? I don't care how we have played them the first few times....that is not going to be easy. Throw Boston, Montreal and Washington in there...could be a long month.

Is that what my post says?

If you think think there's no way the Rangers CAN beat Washington, you don't know anything period.

My point is everyone on here seems to act like that's a guaranteed loss. HELLO this is hockey. And we hada 4-0 lead on them. Did we lose by 10 goals everytime we play them or something and I missed that?

I swear half this board are really just Capitals fans.

We get it guys, Ovechkin is good.

If you like him so much jump ship and head on down 95

You tell me how that sentence sounds
"We can't beat Washington? Seriously? Like...seriously?"

Sounds like you are calling them a flaming bag of crap to me, anyone agree?

Of course we can freakin beat washington we beat boston and barely lost to both detroit and san jose.

Heres what I think:

Jan 3 |@WAS - OTL
Jan 5 |PIT - W
Jan 7 |MON - L
Jan 9 |@BUF - OTL
Jan 10 |@OTT - L
Jan 13 |@NYI - W
Jan 16 |@CHI - W
Jan 18 |@PIT - L
Jan 20 |ANA -SOL
Jan 27 |CAR - W
Jan 28 |@PIT - L
Jan 31 |@BOS - L

4-5-3 - 11 Points out of a possible 24:

giving them 60 points going into February with a record of:

27-18-6 = .529% - should put them right around the 6-7 spot.

Thats still 9 games over .500 in a losing month. So a good target would be to hit 5 -7 wins or any combination of 14 points and they would still be in good shape.
