Word on the street is that Spezza went to school with Melnyk's son. In true country club fashion, he thus has the owner's favour and thus will not be moved.

Bob McKenzie said Hartsburg's job is on the line though...wonder if Murray will coach this team to another failure.

I think Spezza is a real good player, with a great shot (I wish he would use it more).
I'd rather have Spezza be a 40/40 player with 80 points that competes hard, than a guy aiming for 100 points in the regular season and can't play hard in the Playoffs.

as i said, i wouldnt mind if he takes over again, just cuz its gonna be his last chance.... then we get rid of him, since no one can help this mess of a team.

I realize heart as often been implied when a star player drops the gloves, but to me, heart is trying more than you thought possible and doing whatever you can do to win. Spezza does try, and doesn't turn over the puck because he's lazy, he does it because he's trying to do whatever it takes to win. He will realize, like Alfie has, that sometimes less is more when you're playing, but his errors aren't due to a lack of heart, IMO. He competes hard, albeit not physically, because that's not his game. He's never going to have Morrow type physicality, because he's more effective being elusive than abrasive.

Now that's not to say I don't love watching guys like Morrow and Iginla play, but heart doesn't only come in one fashion, IMO.

Good point! I've have always believed that Spezza tries hard and cares about winning.

Mike Fisher needs to start driving to the net. No more of this shooting from the top of the circle - carry the puck and make a drive to the net. Whether it's a goal, chaos/scramble, or a drawn penalty, he needs to start putting down his shoulder and powering through.

Spezza cares about winning... I would be disappointed if they traded him, how can you trade a guy in his early 20's who led the playoffs in scoring two years ago? I'd rather flame out the year with Spezza than without him...

I definatley don't think he doesn't care about winning.
And by heart I'm not talking about droping the gloves. I mean flipping the puck in and chasing after it...less stick checking, and more body-on-body.

I'm really bored today, and it feels like I'm ragging on Spezza..but I like him, and I like the make-up of the team. It's just very disappointing to know they're a lot of potential not being shown.

Heatley is another guy I'm waiting for more from. When we got him from Atlanta I was so excited. A true power foward that wasn't afriad to get dirty...but I haven't seen it....don't know if it was the accident, the jaw, or the eye...but he's not the Dany Heatley of 4-5 years ago.

It was actually a Senator's Saboteur who cut the lights. Drag things on for a while and take the crowd out of the game.
