I watched a lot of Lee as well. He did have a strange progression. But he made strides. There are a lot of NCAA players that look weak as upper classmen. At NoDak. He was used all the time. Some players pressing too much. With classes, mental fatigue can set in. Okposo as a soph was brutal, Wheeler never dominated college hockey. Goli himself was always pegged as great at O but not in his own end. They all found a way to have NHL success. Or at least at this point. Have played in the NHL.
Some D just take a little while to get going. Goli played 3 at the U and one in the AHL. Now this year. Lee played 2 at NoDak and one in the AHL. Now this year. Going head to head. Lee is still one year ahead of Goli's progression.
When Lee plays well he plays well, this year he has bounced between the NHL and AHL, but to say he is a bust is not fair to him. In a sense he has been disappointing because Ottawa could have picked Marc Staal or Anze Kopitar ahead of him, but they look Lee. However I think he can develope into a good defensemen who is capable of putting up a few points. Ottawa really lacks puck moving defensemen but with Lee coming up and Eric Karlsson (playing with Sweden in WJC) that area should be covered in the next few years.
