Actually, Labarbera is the perfect backup for Luongo. Since he will usually only play 8 games per season, he should be awesome every time he comes in.

No stretches of games for him to peter out.

Not really, considering Lababera is a much better goaltender then both of them.

It's a win-win trade really. The Canucks get thier filler goalie. I highly doubt the canucks wants labs for anything more then a possible back-up. If at that.... The Kings got what they want and that was to get rid of LaBarbera since we have no space for him. But if any canucks fans think LaBarbera is going to put up his AHL number for you. Your fooling yourself, not saying that to bash, just saying it to let you know what happen here in LA.

To be fair other than the shootout and that one goal... He was pretty good.

I agree, but I said in the chat that if it went to SO = ATL win.

Made two saves in the shootout though and gave the Canucks a chance to win in the SO. That's more than I expected! But his flop on the first goal he allowed in the SO was epic lolz.

Oh epic lolz it was. Kozlov wasn't even close to his shooting motion yet and lolbera was already on the ground sprawled out and kozlov just shot it high easily.

He got lucky as hell... The first shot he basically fell into his net.

I'm happy with his effort so far, but he really needs to work on those shootouts.

If ANY player goes to the backhand on LOLZ in the shootout, it's a goal. Every time - GOAL.

Give it time...

Wait until you give up some breakaways and Labs ends up on his back

Babs lost a shoot out. I am shocked!

Uh, can I guess how they scored the shootout goals?

... and other than the shootout and that one goal, the Canucks win a game against the 3rd worst team in the NHL on a 1-8-2 run. The thing is that we have seen it over and over in LA ... Labs plays well enough for a team to win, but not well enough to win games. Personally, I would rather have a goalie that can win games than one who "actually doesn't lose" them.

HAHAH, yeah, that had me laughing. I also laughed when another guy on the board responded to him and said, "I hate to be the guy to break it to you, but......" haha.

Another Canucks fan posted this:

"LaBarbera was AWFUL in the shootout. His save on Little was a complete fluke and Kovalchuk shot the puck directly into his chest. The Kozlov goal was particularly bad. What the **** was LaBarbera doing on that shot? A peewee player would have scored on him there."

I still maintain that as long as LaBarbera can play DECENT hockey and keep us in a playoff race he's worth a 7th round pick.

But damn is he frustrating to watch sometimes. He loves to overplay the shooter and leaves the rest to the defense if he screws up... Which has worked out for him so far. His puck control on rebounds and catches is pretty poor.

But honestly his positioning is good, he's big, and he seems to play with confidence.

I can see why LA fans are happy he's gone, but as a Canucks fan i'm happy we got him so far. SO FAR. Win/win.
