Ferraro is annoying.

Guess I should also add my "take" on the game so far. Seemed our Flames took a bit to get going, but I think they're now in the game.

My lord what a bad half of a period. The Flames were watching the puck, standing around, and generally looking like a bunch of Pylons. I mean it was horrible. No energy, no intensity. They were making the Oilers look good. That's how lazy they were. The Oilers struck first because they showed up to play, and took an early lead. Iggy and Conny tried their best to put the game on their backs as they tied it up shortly after. But no, the team wasn't done, well whatever it was they were doing until a powerplay goal ignited the Flames. Then they dominated every single aspect of the game. Face offs? Yup. Hits? Oh yeah. Shots? You betchya.

The penalty kill was great. They did everything they always do. blocked shots, stole passes, dumped the puck and pressured the puck carrier. But on the first PK Miikka pooped in the proverbial bed. In my opinion that was a goal he should have had. The power play was flawless. Nice quick passes and lots of shots on net. Iggy of course figures in this goal as well as he passes the puck to Cammy who dropped to one knee, and shot it right through Rolli the Goalie. Oh yeah!!

Iginla is taking this game as his own. He was doing everything that he does, and earning his entire contract that period. What a player! Oh and the hits just keep on coming! Pardy and Sarich have the biggest hits but everyone was hitting everything. I approve most heartily. You have got to feel for poor Bertuzzi who made a brilliant play to get the puck onside, and then another awesome shot, only to be denied. Keep that kind of thing up Todd. The fans are very happy to see it.

I found myself asking didn't I just watch this period? Why are you replaying the first? Oh crap you are showing the second. Again the Flames stood around and generally lacked any urgency. Which again came back to haunt them as the Grease took the lead yet again. Thankfully our power play unit seems to have finally learned what their job is and they tied it back up. As in the first the Flames came alive and took control of the remainder of the period. This type of play is not a good thing. This is one of the worst games I've seen the Flames play since the Abomination of San Jose.

The power play got a lot of work and on a five on three they made good of their opportunity. The puck was sent back to Aucoin, and Adrian fired home the puck. There were a great many chances on all advantages, and Bertuzzi and Iggy figured largely in each and every one of them. If not for a crossbar, I ggy would have been at two goals on the night. The penalty kill was pretty decent all things considered, but also very very lucky as another post, this time behind Miikka saved the day. There was simply not enough pressure on the puck on Lombardi's penalty.

Bertuzzi has continued his great effort from the first period and is really working his butt off. Actually, so have Langkow and Moss. That whole line has easily been the best line overall. The whole team really needs to wake up and get into this game right at the very first puck drop. This type of play through two is not only unacceptable, but far beneath them.

I never like to see a player get injured, regardless of the jersey he's wearing.

Having said that, Regher's been FAR from a golden child (witness his attempts to break Hemsky's neck from behind), so you can understand why we're not overly dismayed at lady Karma making her presence felt.

Lanny I disagree with your rundown. I think outside the first eight/ten minutes the game Flames stopped standing around. Sure they made some stupid mistakes (Pardy deflecting the 3rd goal passed Kipper). Maybe, just maybe your expectations are a little too high.

If it wasn't for Kipper the game could get really ugly. The Oilers have had some great opportunities.

attempts to break his neck? just because your coach has killed someone doesn't make him an expert on attempted murder... try listening to someone else
