Nice feed by Boynton, we need smart plays like that from our defense. That's actually the exact play that was not made with Frolik going to the net when Cullimore had the puck last game that set me off on Cully, as he just lofted a weak angle shot on net.

Considering the fact that we're playing NYI, it's not a good period

I mean...NYI is really terrible, you can see why they're the worst team in the league

It's nice to have to lead, but they should show more intensity

Set you off? On one play? eesh man.

Glad we're up, need to win this one, no reason at all not to.

A bit of a lucky period .. At first blush, I thought it was a pretty lousy call on the "non-goal" but that's why they ref and I spectate.

Nice goal by Boynton .. er I mean McLean..

As a leader he shouldn't take the stupid penalty he took in the Montreal game.

Everyone takes "stupid" penalties. Boynton's no elite player in this League, but he's tough and sticks up for his teammates while being at least a solid defenseman. That's appreciated, so his teammates listen. That's what we need leaders getting in guys' faces, that's what Lindsey said helped the 96 team so much. There was accountability everywhere.

It was more because I had been frustrated with other things he did and then stupid decision making and zero offensive creativity really got annoying.

His interference penalty was awful. Not everyone takes stupid penalties and because it may happen doesn't excuse it. Between him and Stillman, who are a veteran players/leaders, Montreal had 6:00 minutes of powerplays.

Right

I,ve said it before the season starts: To make the playoffs, our PP needs to be top 10 in the league, or top 15 at least since we don't score tons of goals on 5 vs 5

OK...but, I wasn't trying to say it should be excused, simply saying that it happens and Boynton's not an elite guy, so it's likely going to happen. He's no Mezei, Salei, or Gratton, though.

Exactly. Our 5 on 5 play is good enough, so is our PK. Our PP has let us down way too much. We only lost Jokinen but added Stillman, Frolik and McCabe to what was a very good PP last year. There really is no excuse for the failure of it.

I know it happens and as a hockey fan I can appreciate what he brings to the team. But we walk such a fine line between success and failure that penalties such as his and Stillmans are unacceptable. The puck wasn't even close to the Montreal player when he hit him. The call was so obvious. As you know, we aren't good enough to give teams PPs for nothing. These are our veteran guys, players who shouldn't be making mistakes like that. Stillman's lazy/stupid hooking penalty was so textbook I was shocked he had the audacity to argue with the ref.

that was a bad change that cost us a goal.

the isles rush before that i didn't like - horton really did coast back and whoever was coming back down that center lane was totally coasting and failed to catch the trailer. that is BS. unacceptable. those are the chances vokoun talked about that should not happened.

Jokinen was that powerplay.

I agree and disagree. We should be able to have success with the players we have and we did rely on him a lot last year on the PP but PHX is worse than us this year on the PP and they have him.

If we lose this game, we will look back on this streak of losses as the time the season fell apart. This was our chance to really make a move in the standings. We should have definitely won 3 of the 4 games. Its hard being a Panther fan.

Don't know if I like Booth, Campbell, and Horton as a line. They're hard working, but there's no passer and there are two shooters on that line. On the other line you have three playmakers. Neither are really shoot first. Stillman will but you have Frolik and Weiss too. I feel like that line is too soft and small.

How is Matthias, who pouts in the AHL, in the lineup over Zednik, who at least works hard even if he doesn't produce.

ALso, we look pathetic and Skrastins sure is having a bad game today. He's been right there screwing up on 2 or all 3, idk.
