Horrific Leg Injury to Marco Sturm

Just saw it on TSN...racing for a puck with Foote, went into the boards feet first, foot definitely bent the wrong way. Just awful...best wishes to him.

He's done for the year...horrible collision into the boards.

Hope Sturm can come back from this injury. Very tough loss for SJ.

I know...very very scary. Sturm lost an an edge as he was tangled with Foote and his leg is caught in the boards. I hope he is okay.

Sturm carried off on a stretcher. Just as Gord Miller said...you know this will bring up the no-touch icing issue.

There should be a No-touch Icing. How many injuries do there have to be before the NHL realizes that a race for the puck can cause serious injury. Pat Peake's career ended because he was injured in a race for the puck.

damn damn damn damn damn damn damn

sturm is as close to irreplaceable as any one player can be for the sharks. great speed, solid defense, and scoring ability. hopefully sturm will be able to fully recover from this, but d wilson may want to start making some calls cuz there's no one in the sharks system that can come near to filling marco's role.

OMG it sent a shiver up my spine. When I heard him screaming in pain it really made me change my mind on no-touch icing. I used to think that I would miss seeing the race or the puck, but after witnessing that I am all for no-touch icing. That was really tragic to see such a terrible injury and I hope he gets better soon.

Marty Reasoner was going to have a break out season in Edmonton untill he raced Bryan Marchment in Toronto to an icing call. He played 14 games up to that point, returned for 3, then had to go in for more surgery. He isnt likely to return anytime soon. Ive seen some interesting plays develop from a race to an icing call, but is it worth it when you lose an impact guy like Strum to a serious injury? ... I dont think so.

It is a broken ankle, according to the Avs radio broadcasters. He is on his way to the hospital. That was the ugliest injury I have seen this year...and it took place near a microphone so you could hear him hit the boards and then start to scream. It was painful to watch. Awful.

OPPS. Undate. Just as I hit the send button, the Avs radio broadcasters announcec..They are now calling the injury an 'ankle dislocation'. That sounds better than a shattered ankle to me. Keep your fingers crossed...

McGuire just said on the TSN broadcast that they did x-rays and didn't find a fracture....apparently its a dislocation.

What a horrible sounding injury. Sturm is one of the better up and coming players in the league, and for the Sharks to lose him before the playoffs really hurts.

I don't think no touch icing is the answer, but I wouldn't mind it. I've seen Klesla sprain his MCL this year going for an icing against Semin...this is way worse, though.

I didn't see the injury but it sounds brutal. Magnus Arvedson's knee injury looked extremely horrible too... he's gone for the season.

Anyway, hope he gets back soon. Speaking of injuries: What's going on with Ricci? I haven't heard a thing.

Samsonov was injuried 2 times this year on the icing. First time leg and second time ribs!!!! I want no-touch icing!!!! I think touch icing is waste of the time and energy also.

I really feel for San Jose and Marco Sturm. He is key player to them.

Get well Marco!
