You forgot to mention that they gotta decide between Thomas and Fernandez as who their starting goalie will be, and sign them before someone else does.

I have no idea why Tim Thomas would stay either. That guy was a starter a few years ago, but Boston never had confidence in him until now. There's a chance they might lose both goalies and have to go with Tukka Rask and a UFA signing, which could be... umm... Dwayne Roloson?

They may hit a losing streak this season, but it sure is looking like they are the real deal. Very balanced lines and playing with lots of confidence. 5 Losses this season-- crazy.

That said, would love for the Habs to meet them in the playoffs-- that would be one intense series (probably more than usual). BGL, you've got 3 months to get yourself in tip-top game playing shape!
sharks and bruins out 1rst round, for tons of reasons.

remember the call.

How long do you think Lucic, arguably the best PF in the league, goes along with playing for $850,000 per year?? I smell a holdout.

Boston Cap is already 12 million higher than Canadiens, (63 millions vs. 51 million)

Zdeno Chara $7,500,000
Marc Savard $5,000,000
Patrice Bergeron $4,750,000
Manny Fernandez $4,333,000
Glen Murray $4,150,000
Michael Ryder $4,000,000
Dennis Wideman $3,938,000
Marco Sturm $3,500,000
Tuukka Rask $3,200,000
Aaron Ward $2,500,000
Chuck Kobasew $2,333,000

Lot of big salarys there - but look at where some of there Best Players are at:

Phil Kessel $2,200,000
David Krejci $883,000
Milan Lucic $850,000

Kessel and Krecjci are Restricted Free Agents.
Lucic is signed next year - but they will need to renegotiate, no way he plays for that low salary next year.

Boston cap hit for next year $43 million
Montreal's cap hit for next year is... only $21 million

You really think so...What as Lucic done in a season and a half to be considered arguably the best PF in the league? Are you sure Tuukka Rask's salary is $3,200,000?

You are right but there is a good chance Manny will stay for less. Timmy will leave for the money and I don't blame him.

They do have some CAP issues but most of the team is signed. If someone swoops in an offers an offersheet I would consider especially considering the depth we have. Kessel & Krejci will be hard to replace but what can you do.

You cannot re-negotiate a contract under the new CBA.

he has to play. Its called a contract

http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.p...OS&season=0809

and yeah it seems like we are pretty f'd. My guess is Timmy is out and Manny signs for less than the 4mill he makes now.

Wonder what will become of Kessel & Krejci. We have lots of talent in the system but these guys are hard to replace. I would consider offer sheets but it depends on who it came from. Guys this young are too young to be getting plucked from the team. What salaries would you guys expect to see Kessel & Krejci get?

Andre K got 3.25mill

You can't renegociate a contract... by your logic, Price could hold-out a want 6mil per season...

They are in a much better shape than us for next year, the core of the team is signed...

The only real question mark is Kessel, but they'll be able to trade away players to fit him in...

We, on the other hand, have a ton of UFAs and I still don't understand why Gainey hasn't sign Komisarek and Koivu (or at least negociated)...

If he's not carefull, we'll be the Buffalo Sabres v2.0

Yes Jerome Iginla might have an issue with Lucic being called the best power forward. I'll take Shane Doan as well before Lucic. I want to add Eric Staal to the list as well.

I mean...we are allowed to talk about anything we want....but I just remember a time where we were laughing so hard at Bruins fans for starting threads about Habs.....how can we ever do that again?

Honestly....who cares about their cap? If they win the Cup, they won't mind finishing last for the followinng years 'cause they'll have a cup to brag about.....

Yeah...you guys have 4 threads on the Bruins. Weird? As long as they stay civil it will not be that bad. Doubt that happens though.

We don't play for a few weeks. No way you guys are preparing this early???

I don't understand. Glen Murray was bought out, his cap hit is around 1.4 million. Fernandez is making 4.3, but he's an UFA next year, I doubt they re-sign him over Timmy. Kessel and Krejci are RFA's, so they will not receive insane amounts of money unless a GM screws them a la Vanek.

They are in good position, I mean they are only paying Savard 5 million, which is a steal, and Wideman is getting 3.875 which is fantastic as well.

You're really overblowing things. And who cares anyways? What does this have to do with the Habs?
