There's a lot of talk about Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin being the "Big 3" superstars in the league today, no arguement on my part but I was also thinking about how a slightly older group of players form a sort of Big 3 that spans pre and post lockout. Iginla, Thornton and Lecavalier fit the bill in my opinion, so which group would you take?
Kinda hard not to choose Malkin, Crosby, and Ovechkin really. They're putting up more points than the previous 3 did in their primes, and doing it younger. The only real argument you have to Iggy, Thornton, and Vinny is they played in the pre-lockout era. Even that doesn't hold much merit.
Wow, i thought maybe the older guys would get a couple votes on account of veteran savy or past accomplishments, but I guess the post-lockout crew eclipses everyone else no matter who they are or have done.

They've done more...
Crosby's third year, he has a cup finals appearance, has won an Art Ross, a Hart, and a Pearson. It took Iggy 9 years, it took Vinny 6, and Big Joe has yet to do it. Ovechkin has an Art Ross, a Richard, a Calder, and a Pearson. Malkin in just his second year, made a cup finals appearance, and put up 106 points.
Thorton had 7 points his rookie year, Vinny had 37 points his third year in the league, and in Iggy's sophomore year, he had 13 goals.
I'd say the voters have voted on past accomplishments.
