Proposal trade with Florida

This is my idea of a trade.

To Florida: Adrian Aucoin + prospect or roster player + 2nd rounder(Only if Aucoin doesn't resign)

To Calgary: Jay Bouwmeester + 1st (Only if Jay Bouwmeester doesn't resign)

This will work as Calgary gets an upgrade in defense in Bowmeester (at 4.8 million) and Florida will get a good defense men in Aucoin (at 4 million) who can score + a promising prospect or roster player to help the team. I added first rounder for Calgary as Bowmeester will receive more money on the open market which Calgary cannot pay and first rounder would be fair compensation. Florida only receive a second rounder as they get a prospect or roster player in the deal plus if Aucoin doesn't resign they will have more money to pay another defensemen.

That's a terrible trade for Florida. It'll probably take the following to land Bouwmeester:

- Lombardi
- One of Backlund or Irving
- A mid-tier prospect (e.g., Pelech, Aulie)
- 1st-round pick.

Lies, impending UFA who will get phaneuf money..not a lot of teams will dish that out with impending lower cap. Massive overpayment..think closer to Hossa deal (Scrub, Lombardi like player, mid prospect, pick).

Ya Florida will have to give away at least one first to get someone to take Bouwmeester...

According to Bill Clement on NHL '09, Aucoin is workhorse who can play over 30 minutes a night effectively. With that in mind, it's a steal for Florida.

DFF u r a quality poster! Me like ur sarcasm.

I think my post comes close to what Atlanta received for Hossa.

- 3rd-line forward (Lombardi vs. Armstrong)
- Good to decent prospect (Irving vs. Esposito - note: Backlund would be an overpayment)
- Marginal prospect (Christensen vs. Pelech)
- 1st-round pick

Atlanta did send another player (Dupuis, a 3rd-line forward) to Pittsburgh. However, a #1 defenceman like Bouwmeester, who is only 26-years old, are more valuable than a 29-year old RW.

You would have to agree, though, that my proposal is a lot closer than what was originally suggested.

No one is going to give up that much for a rental.

I certainly would agree. The Hossa trade is a good measuring stick for a return on a high profile rental player. It would take a **** of a lot more than a couple months of Bouwmeester to pry Backlund from the Flames.

I totally agree and that is if JB would sign an extension... too much to give up and now with Backlund's play at the WJ makes it foolish to part with him for JB now...

I like J-Bo and feel he will do well on this team. The roster player I would send would be Wayne Primeau and maybe James Vandermeer and Rhett Warrener.

I know it J-Bo will be hard to get. If the season ended today who do you think Sutter should go after as we need a d-man and a number once center.

HAHAHAHAHA

a bag of pucks literally has more value than warrener, at least they dont come with like a 3 million dollar cap hit. You can honestly believe you could trade our rosters injured garbage for a 26 year old stud defenseman. I would maybe do Aucoin a first and a boyd/Lombardi/Wahl for Bouwmeester, but if it aint broke, dont fix it.

as i said above i think you are almost dead on... and while perhaps Backlund>Esposito... you have to factor in that Christensen > Pelech so it would even out quite a bit

Mod-edit: deleted.

the Panthers will have no interest in Aucoin (who you are ignoring has a NTC) whom is going to be a UFA... non playoff teams don't trade a #1 defensemsn for a pending ufa 4/5 defenseman... especially when they could be required to give up their own first as well... absolutely ****ing brutal proposal

I may have slightly overstated the return Florida will get for Bouwmeester. Still, it'll probably take at least:

- 1 young, roster player (e.g., Lombardi)
- 1 top prospect (e.g., Irving)
- 1st-round draft pick.

Given that the Flames' 1st-round pick will likely be quite low, it may require the Flames to add another prospect (e.g., Pelech, Chucko, etc.) or a mid-round draft pick.

@scoringmachine:
Are you serious with your proposals? Look at what Martin reportedly asked for in exchange for Jokinen last season and you will quickly recognize that your trade proposal is nothing short of a very bad daydream.
