I can't imagine what Columbus would have to give up to get Heatley.

It's not like the fans have a say in who gets traded so it really doesn't matter if they propose or not, it's merely speculation.

In that case, the Jackets no longer want Nash

Why fill a hole at Centre by CREATING a hole at wing?

EDIT: Should say CLB no longer wants Spezza...brain fart

The fans are pretty much following the direction of team management. While they would love to make the playoffs this year, that isn't the goal. The goal is to build a program and a system that
creates a cup contender for a long, long time.

Additionally, here is a quote from Hitchcock, "Anybody who knows the game of ice hockey can see something here with our organization, when they look at it in terms of the next few years," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "It's pretty exciting, really."

As far as trade talks

Howson was in Ottawa to scout the final rounds of the world junior hockey championship. He's not alone. Roughly half of the NHL general managers are there.

Whenever hockey's well-suited men gather, trades are likely. At the least, the groundwork for deals could be put in place. Howson has said he'll consider adding talent if the Blue Jackets prove they're a playoff-caliber club, and their current six-game trip -- the longest of the season -- is seen as a good barometer.

The Jackets were 2-0-0 heading into a game last night at Colorado. They play tonight in St. Louis.

"We certainly like the commitment they've shown, really the commitment to detail and the kind of play it takes win," Howson said. "We have to keep that going."

The Blue Jackets have had multiple scouts lately at Toronto and New York Islanders games.

Both clubs are willing to trade players for draft picks. The Islanders are out of the race in the Eastern Conference; the Maple Leafs, under new general manager Brian Burke, are rebuilding.

They've made it clear they are not interested in Spezza at all.

There don't seem to be many GMs who do want him.

You fail again. It's 66pts. 28/35*82. It's not rocket science bro.

Spezza has averaged 90pts/season for the last 3 seasons (in only 70 games on average).
