NHL Shop should be embarrassed: "Montreal Canadians"

It's nice that the vintage "barber pole"/C.A.C. jersey is finally for sale on the NHL Shop.

But it's pathetic that they were put up as "Montreal Canadians."

http://shop.nhl.com/search/index.jsp...&kwCatId=&pg=2

I bet whoever did it was a fan of the Maple Leaves.

also historical... "canadiens" literally means "french canadians", this was originally the francophone team of the city

I'm a sucker for vintage jerseys. I think I might have to buy one.

I'm surprised how many people spell this wrong. It's pretty obvious those who do are new to hockey. I mean no one goes around calling Toronto the "Maple Leaves".

Yeah, this is truly an outrage. This may be the single worst thing I've ever heard happening ever. Oh my.

In the real world...no, but on HF it's definitely thread worthy.

Interestingly enough, if you go to the page and choose a player to "customize" the jersey, you can see kind of what the numbering and names will look like. Numbers look kind of vintage-ish.

My biggest fear is when I'll be sporting that sexy jersey, people might not get at first that it's the Canadiens.

But you can feel confident that people who know what the jersey is are good hockey people. Just like when I wear my Montreal Maroons one to a bar or something. If someone recognizes it, yeah that will probably be a good person to talk hockey with.

The Forum was the Maroons' arena originally, right?

Let's see if we can keep this on topic, and/or continue with interesting historical info. If it devolves even slightly towards a language debate, it will be locked.
