As a result of him being a Canuck and me being an Oilers fan, I can't help but not like him....but definitely Edler. I get to watch him a lot. He's good now and is only going to get better.
I'm a Canucks fan and if there was an "Equal" option on this poll I would've picked it. But since their wasn't, the homer in me forced me to give the edge to Edler.
Edler, even if they become equals in terms of ability at the end of their careers (something that's a possibility) I'd still take Edler simply for his size. Also he has one of the hardest shots in the league and if he can learn to get it on net more often he will be a major force on the PP.
Really? I find that to be the weakness in Edler's game.
He has some real good tools, but when I've watched him he looks pretty raw, and gets exposed at times.
He's going through a pretty bad sophmore slump this year despite his good numbers. He's still adjusting to a bigger role this year and tries to do too much at times. The fact he's still a plus player and on pace for 35+ points despite very obvious struggles, make it easy to see why he has so many canuck fans excited. Last year he was a rock defensively and made errors so rarely that it really stood out when he had a bit of trouble at the end of the year as the canucks season went downhill real fast. There's not reason to think his defensive play won't return to form either later this year or next season, because we've seen it in the past.
