Might as well just make the Sting our farm team at that point.

I'd be willing to move Witt. Not sure what his value is now, he has not played well this year. I think he could still command a 2nd/3rd and an Arniel level prospect. He's a guy that has shown the last two seasons with us to be a reliable top four physical presence, something any playoff bound team would desire.

Always been a Schnieder fan... It's a high reward move. Last season he was really good with the Ducks. Get him cheap, and hope he returns.

I'd do the second one... Not the first. As good as Kaberle is, we need all the money we can to sign Kessel, and Krejci.

What's the salary difference between Sturm and Kaberle? Maybe it could work...

If Kubina was a UFA Id probably do that.

What would it take? What is Anaheim looking for? I'm sure Boston could offer up a top 6 winger prospect+more.

Haven't seen too much of him... But I don't think he's an upgrade over Hunwick or Hnidy right now.

It's been mentioned a couple times in this thread, but would the Bruins be interested in Kuba from Ottawa? We'll probably be sellers at the deadline, so I'm thinking for Lashoff or your 1st (which may have to be added to, or Ottawa might end up having 3 straight picks - SJ 29, BOS 30, OTT 31).

From a Boston POV I make that move for Lashoff

That's fine with me. I think Witt would be a good pickup for Boston and that's cheap for Witt (IMO).

The Blues would be willing to package Tkachuk and McKee for picks/prospects, but I dont know if Boston could fit them both under the cap. That would also depend on if Walt agrees to a trade, but being from Boston and a legit shot at a cup, I doubt he would veto this deal.

Most of these trade proposals are completely ignoring Boston's cap situation. Any addition of a guy like Kubina would be catastrophic to the Bruins because they would likely lose one of their two big RFA as a result, and he is not close to worth that.

I like the idea of adding Kuba, but I would not give up a first rounder for him. Witt is also the kind of guy I would be looking for if I were the B's, except his contract is prohibitive.

Kuba for 1st is about right but I bet Ottawa would try to get Wheeler instead

Unfortunately for Ottawa, they can't just take whoever they want.

What type of dman are you looking for? Stay at home type? Offensive type?

How about Greg de Vries for a pick? Solid stay at home veteran with a grit. Stanley cup winner in 2001. A little slow footed though.

K, I just looked up that he's making $2.75. Didn't know it was that high. But we can take salary in return.

(IMO) The most important thing, is the defenseman needs to be a UFA-to-be.

I love Boynton and would welcome him with open arms here... But he's just not worth a 1st round pick...

I agree. Problem is, your 2nd is basically a 3rd!

tom preissing on the kings could be had for pretty cheap.

he's been playing well, but doesn't really fit in with the kings plans or their system. the way he played early on in the year, i would say that he could easily be a # 4 defenseman.

he's kind of the odd man out at the moment, and especially when jack johnson's back in the lineup.unfortunately peter harrold is playing tom preissing's role effectively for about 1/4 of the cost.

la would probably want a forward prospect and a late pick?

Boston is going to run into some cap issues next season with Krejci and Kessel both RFAs and two UFA goaltenders, so I don't think taking on McKee's $4MM cap hit next season is something they would consider.

Other teams would be ready to pay more than a late pick to get Preissing...

There is no way the Bruins take on Kubina. It's never going to happen. They would likely lose one of Kessel or Krejci as a result, and Kubina is not close to worth that.

I really have no preference to what kind of D-man they get, but then need a capable body who can fit into the system. I would do Kuba for a pick and a prospect but I wouldn't give up a first for him, no chance.
