we should never have put him back into the lineup in the first place.

im being serious here.

reason being, is it pisses me off even more that he was benched to begin with when hes been playing EXACTLY this kind of hockey this entire effing season, except the puck is finally going in for him.

He makes things happen, and he gets benched. I hate Renney for a lot of reasons, this is near the top of that list though. His mishandling of Prucha is mind numbingly bad. His overplaying of Voros is just as bad. It took me 2 games in the preseason to see that Voros was worthless, and that Prucha deserves an everyday lineup spot. It took Renney like 40 games plus the entire preseason to sort of come to that conclusion for the moment.

New powerplay lines-

drury-zherdev
staal-mara-kalinin

callahan-prucha
Redden-Girardi-Rosival

3 d across the blueline, middle d slided up and down the high slot,
only the defenseman are allowed to shoot first, forwards are allowed to shoot only on rebounds...
bench anyone who doesn't follow the rule...

I wish I could even begin to pretend i'm joking....

i know youre only joking but...

to be fair, what you are proposing is basically an umbrella power play (with 3 d instead of 2), which works if you have guys at the point who can blast it, and good rebound guys.

we dont have the roster to play this kind of a PP, we do have the kind of PP to set up for 1-timers from the circles with quick "around the horn" passing.

I really don't think Dolan cares. He probably doesn't even know what a shorthanded goal means.

Last night's shortie, :
Redden, Girardi, Naslund, Prucha, Dubinsky

Devils 12/27
Drury, Dawes, Dubinsky, Callahan, Mara

Devils 12/12 (2 SHGA)
Girardi, Redden, Zherdev, Naslund, Gomez
Redden, Zherdev, Mara, Drury, Voros

Flames 12/7
Rozsival, Staal, Gomez, Drury, Naslund

Bruins 11/15
Rozsival, Kalinin, Dubinsky, Zherdev, Voros

Islanders 11/4 (2 SHGA)
Rozsival, Redden, Gomez, Drury, Naslund

Rozsival, Dawes, Dubinsky, Callahan, Mara

Islanders 10/27
Girardi, Redden,Gomez, Drury, Naslund

Sabres 10/15
Rozsival, Redden, Gomez, Drury, Naslund

Flyers 10/11
Girardi, Mara, Zherdev, Dubinsky, Voros

I could not find SHG 12, but 11 should be enough to draw conclusions from.

Redden is out there for 6 of them.

Naslund and Drury for 6

Rozsival 5, Gomez 5, Dubinsky 5

Zherdev 4, Girardi 4, Mara 4.

Im not sure if this says anything at all.

First of all, Staal is by far our best defensive d-man... he barely ever plays on the power player. The defenseman who play the most on the PP are Redden and Roszival... 2 of our 3 worst defensively.

And playing defense on the PP is a lot different than even strength. You're usually always dealing with defending a rush, and you get much less help from the 3 forwards because they were all deep in the offensive zone.

So combine the facts that we have our worst defensive guys playing the point on the PP and they have to defend against a rush more often than they would at even strength... I think it's pretty simple how we let up so many shorthanded goals.

Prucha's also to blame for the Stock Market, Global Warming, 9/11, Katrina, Israel and Palestine, Iraq, and the new Indiana Jones movie.

Our pp is terrible--from Perry Pearn and Mike Pelino's job at coaching it, to the personnel like Rozy and Redden that we throw out there, to even Lundqvist who has been beaten pretty bad on some of those shorthanded goals. It's not just Prucha's fault, though he hasn't helped.
