2009 NHL All-Star Game: JEFF CARTER is an All-Star

I didn't see a post about the all-star game so I thought I would start one.

Eastern All-Star starting lineup

Sidney Crosby - Evgeni Malkin - Alexei Kovalev

Andrei Markov - Mike Komisarek

Carey Price

Western All-Star starting lineup

Ryan Getzlaf - Jonathan Toews - Patrick Kane

Brian Campbell - Scott Niedermayer

J.S Giguere

How diverse of a starting lineup the east and west have. The all-star game is such a joke

Discuss.

1. We all know it is a joke
2. There is nothing we can do about it

Richards, Carter, Gagne, and Timonen all deserve to be in. I am not sure who will be

My guess is Carter and Gagne

thats funny but its our own faults for not voting enough. The Pens starters deserve to be there and the game is in MTL, so they should have their fun. The game isnt a real game, it doesnt determine anything, its just a fun thing. Skills challenge is a lot of fun too. IM not sure why everyone calls the game a joke...isnt that (kinda) the point?

I hope Timonen and Carter are on the team. Gagne and Richards too. But I highly doubt four Flyers will go.

it's all about the fans.

enough people who wanted Komisarek in the game voted 600 times a day.

That's just how it is. It's always been a 'popularity contest.' The Habs weren't the first and they won't be the last.

I hope every Flyer (and honestly, every other team in the East) declines the invite to make Montreal's ASG a laughingstock. Maybe the NHL will wake up to their dumb method of voting. One email address, one vote ... if you want to vote more, have voting in the arenas and make them go to the games.

They won't, and maybe they really shouldn't. All those hits to those sponsors on the website probably makes it work it.

How is ovy not in the starting lineup? I dont' care what team to root for, he's the best player in the league. Next year don't announce the vote totals and and have the league put a team together and just not tell anyone. Once they found any hint of shenanigans this year, that is what they should have done, but of course the league is run by idiots.

Carter will get in, Richards probably will get in, and Gagne might get in. I see it looking like:

Crosby-Malkin-Kovalev
Ovechkin-Savard-Parise
Carter-Richards-Backstrom
Gagne-Krejci-Kovalchuk

Extras: Kessel, Vanek, Heatley

i hope that the flyers do get at least 3.... i really think if you look around the east, you could argue that all 4 of gags, richards, carter, and timmo all belong there........

6 guys from 2 teams. That means there is 17 spots for the other 13 teams. Which means there are only 4 'free' spots. No way the Flyers get more than 1 of those spots, so only 2 Flyers will go.

Well, Timonen is 6th in the Eastern Conference in points among defensemen, and is better defensively than Streit, Green, and is about on par with Kaberle, Wideman & Markov. I don't know if Wideman will get in, they'll probably take Chara over him.

It's not that we didn't vote enough. It's that Habs fans were cheating by using scripts.

Boston-Savard, Chara, Thomas, Krejci/Kessel
Montreal-Kovalev, Markov, Komisarek, Price
Washington-Ovechkin, Backstrom, Green
Philadelphia-Carter, Timonen, Richards/Gagne
NYR- Lundqvist
New Jersey-Parise, Elias
Carolina-Staal
Buffalo-Vanek
Pittsburgh-Crosby, Malkin, Fleury
Florida-Bouwmeester
Toronto-Kaberle
Ottawa-Heatley, Spezza/Alfredsson
Atlanta-Kovalchuk
Tampa Bay-Lecavalier
NYI-Streit

There's 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 3 goalies. The bolded players are guys who would replace guys who were injured/declined to go.

I made a potential lineup, everyone gets one and with the lineup the way it is, only two teams get more than one. Boston is leading the conference, they will be one of the teams. I made the other one the Flyers just because I can.

Only 21 players per team play, you have one too many forwards.

This is how I have it:
MTL: Price, Komisarek, Kovalev, Markov
BOS: Savard, Thomas
BUF: Vanek
OTT: Kuba
TOR: Kaberle
NYR: Lundqvist
NYI: Streit
NJ: Parise
PIT: Crosby, Malkin
PHI: Carter, Gagne
WSH: Ovechkin
FLA: Bouwmeester
CAR: Ward
ATL: Kovalchuk
TB: St. Louis

I had Zherdev for the NYR then remembered Lundqvist and forgot to delete Zherdev, now I have it right.

im sure most of us and our players would trade ten years of all star appearances for a cup win.

we can use the rest.

the flyers have 4 deserving all-stars, will probably only get 2 of them. carter for sure... my guess is as good as yours as far as gagne, timonen and richards make it.
