Ducks at Preds, GDT 3-23

the "not-pretty" approach worked last time, let's try it again

Ducks just got off a big win over the Wings, so here's to hoping that was their last hurrah. This is the sort of game we have to be winning, if we want to get in.

Forget not-pretty GDT, this needs to be down and dirty. I think they'll be gunnin' for us after the last game we gave them, so we need to play physical and dominate them in the neutral zone and along the boards. That is where tonights game will be played, I'm guessing. I feel a low scoring game either way.

I saw a stat that Giggy hasn't won a game against us this season. Anyways, let's roast some duck and get closer to Calgary!

This week = 6 points or we're not getting in, PERIOD, against the Ducks, Rangers and BJs, if we don't get 6 points in the next three games, we don't deserve to make the playoffs.

hmm... I think more importantly is Arhkipov going to play? Did you read the article in today's Titanssean? Sounds like Trotzy wants to move Legwand and Arkhipov down to 3rd and 4th line and get some one new up front for next season. These guys better get to proving themselves.

Why'd they bother to even get out of bed today if this is the way they're gonna play?

" * " = insert any name on the team

"puck bounces off of *'s stick "

" * can't hold the pass"

" * loses the puck, skating into the zone"

" * can't get wood on the shot"

we got outhustled and outworked...again. someone said that maybe the ducks "shot their load" against the wings on sunday. i think we shot ours in calgary. what's that, 2 wins in 11 games?

you think attendance was bad this year?

wait til you see a tuesday night in november next year, after missing the playoffs for six straight years. we'll be seeing the 8500 mark.

this is infuriating, but we brought it on ourselves.

Oilers fan here. *runs and hides*

Don't get too down on yourselves, or the team. You still have a very favourable schedule, and have some very winnable games down the stretch (what's left of it). There's no reason why the Oilers and Preds both can't make the playoffs. The Kings are falling fast, and the Blues are still underperforming.

we do appreciate the kind words. the problem is..with the way we're playing right now, no game is "winnable." it would be one thing if we were playing our hearts out, every game..but even coach horachek said, in between periods,

"This team isn't playing with desperation or heart. They're treating this like any other game, not a game that they need in a push to make the playoffs"

That's been the story for a while now. We came back with one good effort in Calgary..and then laid this egg. We didn't turn it on until late. It's extremely frustrating and disheartening. The blues might be underperforming, but no one is underperforming worse than us. Some team is going to get in by default because we'll play ourselves out of the spot.

I understand where you're coming from. Remember that stretch where the Oilers seemed to go into overtime every single game and then lose it because they gave up a lead late in the game? It seemed like the team didn't know how to close any game out.

My point is, even when things look horribly bad, they can get better. I honestly don't think LA has anything left in the tank, so I don't think "we" have to worry about them. That leaves St. Louis. And with Anaheim seemingly playing better, the Blues are no lock for their matchup. And, I think the Preds will rebound. There's a reason why you have 82 points, and that's the same reason why you will get more before the season's done and over.

PS. By comparison, the Blues are underachieving more so than any other Western team. They have the largest payroll for a team out of the playoffs, I think.
