And I have no idea why the NHL put the instigator rule. They wanted more fans and like BGL says, people LOVE enforcers. Not only that but they are marketing the stars like Ovechkin and Crosby, and what better way to protect those you market by letting others defend them? It's just too simple.
In the 70's high sticking was usually a stick fight between two pi$$ed off players

Rivet, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBfKf...eature=related you have to admit at times he would protect the Canadiens smaller forwards. We could use his toughness but Gorges and Paciorretty were worth the trade.

There is no code when you are beating on the Ott's and Avery's of the NHL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-eGM...eature=related Look at Ott run from Thornton until he gets a cahnce to sucker punch Joe.

I am really impressed with this bog. BGL will no doubt have a career as a television analyst when he retires.

Lucic was pumping up the crowd as well.

Edmonton was up 3-0 in the third. What's the difference between throwing your arms up in the air a bunch of times and smacking the glass with your hands? Both are attempts to celebrate/pump up the crowd.

Either Laraque forgot about doing this himself, or he's just being hypocritical because he's sore about his team being embarrassed and not having a dance partner that night. I'd like to believe the latter.

BGL makes me laugh...

He is the one who "re-arranged" Andrew Archer's face during a pre-season game few years ago at the Bell Centre. He never really ask him if he was willing or not to fight !

Lucic was taunting the Montreal bench after cowering from Laraque. Laraque doesn't spot pick like your little punk does.

It's their new image that defines the franchise. That Bobby Orr in the air image is getting old. Now in 2 years time when things go south for them again, they can look back on it and smile.

You are right, he did celebrate and that is according to him a no-no. Was it the same as what Lucic did? Depends. Habs fans will say no- he was pumping up the crowd. Bruins fans will say yes.

Only difference I see is that Georges will answer the bell and would account for his actions- Will Lucic??

Laraque showed more respect, he didn't do it in his competitors face or towards the opponents bench let alone some crappy wrestling style gestures.

2 years? 3 months more likely

It's sad they have no images of their 1990 Cup Finals appearance. I guess Bruins fans can just have a black box as their avatar, after trying to turn off the lights in the Garden

I was at that game... Archer dropped, tried to fight him, BGL just wrestled around for 30 seconds... near the end he threw 2 punches, that's it... It's not like he pummeled the guy to a bloody pulp... Archer wanted to prove himself and failed miserably.

I think you guys ended up on the wrong board? With all the time you spend on this board I think your beginning to make the transition to the light side.

Celebrating by pumping your arms toward the crowd is one thing, Smacking the glass like a kid in the kitchen asking mommy for some cookies is another. Fact of the matter is Laraque is that much wiser now, he hasn't done it since. Lucic should learn a thing or two from Laraque and read his blogs. You do what Lucic did that early in a career you make yourself a marked man, not a smart move at all.
