Tor - Lak

With LA only 2 points out of a playoff spot I wonder if they would except this trade to try and make a push for a playoff spot. Feel free to bash/edit.

To LA:
C, Nik Antropov (2.050M)
C, Jiri Tlusty (0.765M)
G, Vesa Toskala (4.0M)
D, Pavel Kubina (5.0M)

To Tor:
D, Jack Johnson (2.150M)
C, Michal Handzus (4.0M)
G, Jeff Zatkoff
2nd round Pick 09'

What do you think? Too Much, Too Little, Close maybe?

Giving up JJ and getting a huge cap hit makes it a big NO from LA.

LA's not trading JMFJ, he's too important to their future

As for a counter offer:

Antropov for Handzus+Zatkoff/2nd

The other guys on Torontos side shouldn't be too tempting for LA.

...now think about that for a minute.

Blake is the better player, and in a horrible year had almost triple the points of Handzus (while fighting cancer) and has already outperformed Hadzus's points total from last year in 34 games without playing on the top 2 lines.

Man ohh man......

Johnson is going nowhere...
Handzus: no trade cl.
Leff Zattkoff... is to early to leave
2nd round... maybe for the right choice..

But the return.......

jeeeeezz... we get a bunch of overpaid Euros....
Not a single player has value to our Team.
Our defense is set for yeras to come and the Toronto attackers are a joke....
On top Millions of salary.....

Thank you great offer

Handzus has a NMC and has played like the Handzus in Philly this year. He's also been a great mentor to Wayne Simmonds. He's not going anywhere.

Yes but no offence to LA but I dont expect them to make the playoffs so it is going to be a top15/10 pick you dont trade that just to get rid of salary.

We don't keep Handzus for his production. He has improved miles from last year and constantly shuts down the other teams top offensive threats. He is one of the reasons our PK is great this year.

i can understand not wanting to part with johnson for older more expensive players, this package is close though in terms of value. to get 2 guys that can help any team win immidiatly can be expensive in terms of return. but i just dont understand the reasoning for not wanting a near exact upgrade in handzus. antropov does all the things you like in zues plus score fairly regurlary. IMO i would want a first but i guess we're all fans of our own teams for a reason right

What a terrible offer. Thats asking way too much. Throwing in Tlutsty and Toskala, which LA has no need of, does not up the deal to include Jack Johnson. At least in my opinion. Sorry about this one.

No way from the Kings' POV.

There could be some interest in Antropov for something like a 3rd round pick and a second level prospect. If Toronto can get a better deal for him in a trade than that, I suggest they do it.

Antropov is definitely not overpaid, and the price would be a 2nd and decent prospect as a starting point I d imagine.

One of Stoll or Handzus has to go. Take your pick. Because neither of those jokers are a number two center in this league.

Ya I would love for the Kings' 1st rounder, but I doubt they give it up...maybe. Maybe a 2nd, 3rd and a prospect. Kings have something like 14 picks in this years draft so they can part with some of them if they think Antropov can get them into the playoffs. But I dont think that they sell the farm this year, they should be patient.

only la fans would think they're getting ripped off in a deal that sends them a top line forward a ppqb at a price that has become fairly good value a good prospect and a ok goalie for an ok d prospect that hasnt proven much a bunch of spare parts and a salary dump without even giving up a first ya your getting ripper off

leafs get nothing out of this trade that they need for a rebuild

why do the kings need toskala or tlusty though? Or Kubina for that matter? They're good on the blueline. Jack Johnson would be nice for the rebuild. Isnt Zatkoff suppose to be a good prospect?

That's a lot of salary going to the Kings. I think they'd prefer to have the funds available to lock up their very talented players rather than pushing for a cup this year and being potentially screwed with a dropping cap. I'm not sure you'll see LA sell anything off for salary right now...they've been very patient building through the draft and I doubt they'd try to take a shortcut now.

Besides...the goalies in LA system are showing (debatably) more promise then Toskala and are considerably cheaper right now. Not sure Kubina would be a good fit for LA's system (don't get to see enough of Kubina to really gauge him). They might make a trade for Antro IF they push this year, but not sure they'd want the rest of the trade package.

Kubina is great. Booming shot from the point. He hurts peoples ankles all the time. Dont think you guys need him though.
