Price and the All-Star Game.

I really don't want to see Price play in the all-star game, even if he returns for a few games before the game rolls around. His "LBIs" are really starting to stress me out and I think he should be given the AS weekend to rest. It would be amazing to see him start the game between the pipes at the Bell Centre during the Centennial season and all, but as we have seen since he has gone down there is no piece to our puzzle more vital than Price. I think we should have more than enough starters in the game to please our loyal fans and should think "big picture" when it comes to Price's involvement in the game.

I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks about this issue.

The all-star game is pretty much a glorified practice (especially for goalies who have the skills competition and one period of play).

If he didn't want to go so he could rest I'd understand, but from everything I've seen he seems keen on the event (talking about voting for himself and teammates in interviews).

ASG is in Montreal, Carey is named a starter and is THE fan favorite of the fans. Altough I partially agree with you, I bet he will end up playing.

I share your paranoia simply because Horcoff got owned after the AS game.

Getting rest is definitely over stated when the all star game is at home. Say every player gets 7 days off, well now even playing in the all star game and skills comp(which isn't even very hard at all) he now gets 5 days rest. Big whoop, he lost 2 days of rest.

There's no way he doesn't go if he can. That could potentially be a once in a lifetime experience, you never know. Especially in front of your fans.

It's just the 1st period, and it's in Montreal. If he's healthy I don't see a problem.

I'm not even looking at it from the stand point as just as much rest as possible... but what if he re-aggravated his hip injury during a breakaway competition during the useless skills comp? Just seems like a risk that we don't really need to be taking. What's more important during the Centennial season... Price in the ASG or Price taking us deep into the playoffs?

Call me paranoid (which I probably am) but I just don't want to be stuck with a Halak/Denis tandem or forcing Gainey to trade assets for a stop-gap solution.

I would just hope he does not overextend himself in the game or skills trying to make the miraculous save.
There will be tons of odd man rushes and plays where the goalie needs to be quick from post to post. I hope he goes into the weekend with no concern for how many pucks he stops or doesn't stop. \

It would be a big eff you to the fans that voted for him, even if he's still not 100% by the time the all-star game arrives, which I doubt will be the case.

If he's really got mono, he should rest up. I don't think this will be his only shot at the all-stars.

Let him have some fun!

On a side note, the NHL has modified a few things in the all star competition.

I dont believe that crap, the radio was saying he might be like last season again in playoffs, all tired out. (Mono) I dont believe a word of it. He did well against Tampa.

He's going to need a lot of rest. The All Star Game is going to be such a long flight from where he usually plays. What about the jet lag? They say every hour of flight takes 1 day of recovery. And then there's 20 full minutes of non-stop hockey!! 20 minutes!!!

Oh my! Just fold the team!

The ASG will be a great experience for a young player like Price. To be sitting around, training and practicing with some of the greatest players, the greatest champions, some of the best warriors in the league would be a great learning experience for such a young guy.

Price is young. His body is still growing. It's all pretty normal to have some minor injuries. We're not pushing him too hard. The opposite really. Let's not get carried away and baby him too much. If he's hurt, he won't play. If he's healthy he will.
